Chapter 2: The Pursuers

     Mary is rushing home, with August following him. Come on August, faster, never lose me in your sight. She said to the boy. The boy was silent and seems not to surprised with what he saw. It was already 3:00 pm when they arrived home. Mary locked the doors and hold Agust and still trembling, because she knows that only demons can do such thing.
Jonathan arrived home earlier than usual. She notice that Mary is acting uneasy.
"What is going on?" he asked.
" You look pale, and trembling. "
"No I just can't believe the day I had. Just dont worry about it, I'm fine." she answered.

When August finally went to sleep, Mary opened up to Jonathan what happened in the town. Look, it's not only what happened there that made me so worried.
" Do you remember what he told you when hes having a nightmare?" and about the...
"Mary!" Jonathan interrupted her. "He's just a boy, nothing will happen to him. And will not allow it to happen. Remember, do not fear the wicked."
Mary then realize the importance of her faith. She still worried about her son and what may happen. She never had a chance to tell her husband about the reaction of August about what happened in town earlier. Jonathan might get mad of her because she just let the boy saw the incedent. When they decided to go to bed and everyone has fallen asleep, Jonathan was reminded about something and it bothers him. It's the book. Jonathan had trouble sleeping so he decided to read the book. He might find something related to what is going on in the town he live.
The Book of Star. The book look so ordinary to him, but it really bothers him and he somehow feared that he might learn something he never wamted to learn about. He already red few lines from the book and he realize that the contain of the book is awefull and wicked, but something is telling him that he must read the book. It was too quite and the noise he hears is his deep breathing. He opened it and flipped it to the first page.
As he go and read through the contains of the book. People built the tower of babylon, trying to reach heaven with their own strength. People keep buliding the tower. It became the symbol of their pride. God crushes down the tower and let them realized that they can't reach it, unless through him. Their pride was shattered in the ground, but instead of getting up they made their own heaven and followed different god. As he continues, he found something similar to what is going on around. He learned how this demon works and how to deal with it. He knew thay he'll his families life in danger if he'll continue reading the book. He closed the book and tries to just burn it, however, something stopped him from doing so. He was breathing heavily and he seems to be strugling. Jonathan can't fight it back and he keep the book with and try to get some sleep.

In a laboratory, somewhere in new york; they examined those dead bodies of the victims from erlier incident. Recardo Viera, the doctor who is studying the cause of death of the victim. This is beyond explainable. he aclaimed. the blood and water in this man's body was drained. No wounds or any cuts found. Ricardo had an idea of what is really happening. He rushed out of the laboratory and went straight to the church. His friend, a priest, fr. Peter Roberts. learned his explaination about the victim, Ricardo haven't really explained a clear and concrete thaught.

Back in the laboratory, the dead rise and jonathan happened to be in there for a quick look on those bodies out of curiousity. It went wild and nobody can control it even the body already died. the dead grabed him and strungled him. People
in the laboratory were all panicing as Jonathan continue to strugle. Jonathan was able to release himself. He can't help but use force to keep the dead calm. He got a gun in his hand and force to shoot the deam right in the forehead. He may have putit down for a while but he knows that the dead was still possesed by demon so it will somehow rise and attact again. Jonathan remembered what he red from the book.
- Creeps were creeping in the ground were every living things started. The Earth was unsealed that they rise and roam the land.
The seal of Earth was demonstrated in the book. Jonathan studied it carefully and he finally understood what it means to say. He cut him self and draw the seal by his own blood. He dragged the dead over the seal he drew. Jonathan is mumbling words in low voice. "Earth, sky and nothing else." he keep repeating these words untill the seal lit up.
"Unseal" he shouted.
He was also shocked with what he did. the dead is slowly decaying. No, it's not, but the Earth consumed the body. No trace of anything from it.
"Seal the Earth with blood of lamb" he keep saing these words while sealing it with his own blood.
Jonathan is catching his breathe. It was too quite and he can barely hold his senses. His vision is too blurry and his seeing two shapes of a man. It was Ricardo and father Peter. The last words he said were.
" You saw what happened?" then fall down.

Jonathan wakes up in a room he doesn't recognize and his wound was cured.

"What you did was too dangerous."Fr. Peter said.
"Where am I?"
"You might have openned the gates of hell." Fr. Peter continued.
I have to go home father, my wife might be so worried about me now, and my boy is waiting.
He stand up and reach for the door.

"You cant just leave now mr. Christopher." Ricardo interfered him. "I am Recardo Verra. A portuguese but I was raise in Maryland.
"We can't just let you leave after what we saw." he added.

Jonathan did not listen to him, and just continue walking through the door.

"The Babylon Society will know what you did and pursue you!" Ricardo stated with furious voice.
"What Society?" Jonathan ask.
"Babylon Society are group of people who are going against the law of God.
"We're all going against the rule of God." Jonathan aclaimed.
"We're all probably not here if we followed him. Those creeps, they could only posses those who have wicked hearts and minds." he angerly aclaimed.
"So if you excuse me, Mr. Verra, Father." Jonathan left and gone home.

A couple of days passed, somebody visits the Christophers. It was the priest and the doctor.

"What can I do for you gentlemen?" Mary ask them.
"We need to speak with Jonathan." Fr. Peter said.
"He's isn't here, he's with his son, they're by the lake fishing."

They've been talking for an hour, but they haven't mentioned anything about what they need from Jonathan. Mary is really curious about it, why would they come to talk with her husband. She realized that her husband is acting weird recently and lately she notice that he's be up so late reading a book. Fr. Peter and Ricardo decided to just leave.

"So mrs. Christopher, if you excuse us, we'll take our leave now."
"You both take care father, and God bless you both."

Mary then look for that book her husband been reading recently. She know that theres really something happening she don't know and the wound he had last day made her really so suspesious. She's breathing heavily while looking for the book. and finally, she found what she's looking for. the book of star.

Meanwhile, Jonathan and August enjoys the peacefull atmosphere in the lake. Jonathan really tries harder to hide all that hes been going through recently. He always want to show his son that everything is normal and they can always live a regular life, but the boy would always ask questions. Some were just some childish question but most of are really bothering him. August would still talk about the angel with dark wing. Jonathan fully understand those things, but he feared that it may put his family's lives in danger and really the Babylon Society really bothers him that much.

"So, we'll go now? " Jonathan ask the boy
August just smiled and get up.
As they approach home, they wonder why people are panicing. Running around with pale of water.

"Jonathan, your house is in fire." an old neighbor told him.
"How about Mary?"
"I don't know, I haven't notice her since the fire started.
"Please watch August for me."
"Father please wait, Mother is...

Jonathan wet himself and runs towards the fire. He dont even know if Mary is still in there or not, he just felt that she needs help. As he tries to break through the fire, he notice the book of star is in the floor, and pages were flipped.

"Mary...." he shouted.
He keeps on calling her but he got no answer from her.
As he break through the back door, he found her lying. She's half burned and suffocated. Hes able to take her out, however, it seem that Mary is about to take her last breathe.

"Oh my God Mary, what happened?" he could barely talk.
"Where is August? I wanna see him." Mary ask.
"Hes here Mary, please keep your eyes open."
She hold them both and said.
"Sorry" and tears flowed in their faces.
"My husband, I openned the seal...forgive me and please take good care of our boy."
"No, forgive me Mary and please stay alive"
Mary smiled and said "I love you both"

In August's eyes, everything turned dark. he lost his mother right before his eyes. Jonathan hold August and can't say anything. August is trembling and his face shows no emotion.

Remember this August, life will continue though our body will rott. Remember this.

A week later after Mary's funeral, Jonathan and August showed up after Fr. Peter and Ricardo.

"Father, Doctor Verra, Me and my son will be one of the pursuers..
