Jace's POV
"Ugh! Why can't you guys ever be nice to one of my boyfriends?!" My sister, Sabrina, yelled. She's a loud, childish person. She's twenty and can't seem to find a decent guy to date. They all seem too douchey. She seems to like those kind of guys, though. My parents never approve of them.
Anyway, that is an amazing way to wake up in the morning. I stretch and walk downstairs. There, I find my parents and sister sitting down on the couch in front of the TV. I ignore them and make my breakfast. Eggs, bacon, ham, cheese, toast, and orange juice. I have a big appetite and that's a good breakfast to have.
After I finish eating, since it's the weekend, I get to do my martial arts practices. I take about an hour or two to finish up. I tend to be topless in the morning because it is hot!!
Shell City is always in the nineties or thirties in degrees Celsius. School days are the worst. Our uniform has a button-up white shirt with the school logo. We have to wear dark blue pants. Some people wear a jacket outside of their shirt, though. It's not mandatory, but it's not going to get you a detention.
I looked out my window and see Penelope looking at me. She immediately blushed and hid her face with her hand. I just gave her a friendly smile. She looked beautiful! Always does, always will. I like her. I know that, but I'm too shy to tell her. I hope I collect enough guts to tell her.
I was suddenly reminded of those two guys, Connor and Tyler. Connor looked harmless and not a threat, but Tyler was the badass heartthrob that every girl falls for. I know him. We used to be friends, but he had to sleep with my girlfriend at the time. I trusted him. He betrayed me. I thought she was the one at the time. I hate him now.
His family owns a chain of resorts. His family rivals mine for the most influential businesses. Even though my dad is constantly moving for business trips as a lawyer, he always keeps up with Tyler's family's business statistics. Our businesses are the most successful.
I was suddenly pulled out of my thoughts by the screaming I'm hearing downstairs. My sister and parents are fighting again. They always fight. I rarely fight with my parents. I always obey them. Sometimes I stick up for myself. I don't get grounded. The screaming is getting louder. I decide to go to Penelope's house.
Penelope's POV
Earlier, my brothers were in a fight. A fist fight. With each other. Peter had to argue with my brothers and start trouble. I don't know what the argument was about, but I know it was heated. I stopped it somehow.
A few minutes later, I looked out the window and saw Jace WITHOUT A SHIRT!!! He was doing, what looked like martial arts techniques. I couldn't look away. It was like watching a god fight in war. What was embarrassing was that he caught me. He smiled.
That brings us to now. He's in my room. He forgot to put a shirt on. Now I have to focus on him and not his toned chest. He doesn't seem to care. I definitely do.
"Why did you come over?" I asked. It might be easier to concentrate on him if I talk to him and not look at his chest.
"Sibling issues."
"You and me both."
"They're so tiresome."
"I know."
"I mean, she's two years older than me, and she's in college. Shouldn't she be the responsible one?"
"I guess she's used to being pampered."
"Everything was handed to her because she had always put on this childish, stupid front. I had to work for everything. I earned everything I have. Sabrina was given everything."
"My brothers are just rambunctious. Peter is childish and mischievous, but he doesn't learn. Lloyd was always the mature one, and Ashton has a mature outlook on everything, he's just hot-headed. I don't really have to care for them unless they fight."
"Are you okay?"
"No, of course not. I'm on fire." I'm sarcastic with him and straightforward. I just get embarrassed easily. Sometimes I even act harsh to him.
"Why do you keep looking at my chest?"
"Am not!" A total lie.
"Should I get a shirt?"
"It's your opinion." I really don't want him to.
"Nah. The house is too loud right now."
"Okay." YES!
"Let's go somewhere."
"Where?"
"Let's go to the park!"
"Why not?"
"Yay!" He smiled like a little kid. It was adorable.
I told my mom I was going out, and Jace and I went to the park. There was really no need to tell my dad because he was constantly working. We're still close.
"Come on!" Jace said.
"Coming!"
"Let's go on the swings!"
"You sound like a seven-year-old." Although he was childish at times, he acted maturely most of the time. I like those sides to him.
"I don't care." He still had a huge smile on his face. It was a weird sight to see. A shirtless eighteen year old on the swings grinning like an idiot.
"Come on!" Jace said, "I'll push you!"
"No way, I'll fall."
"I won't let that happen."
"Okay, but if I die, you're paying the funeral cost."
I sat on the swings. Jace was pushing me, but not too hard or high. That sounded wrong. Anyway, after five minutes, I got off the swings. All the kids were looking at us. One kid yelled, "ARE YOU GUYS DATING?!" We were shocked.
"No, but I want us to." Jace said. He winked at me.
