Chapter 5- Mary's Story

CHAPTER 5

"Are we done yet? why is this school so fuckin big?" i said annoyed. We were still on our tour around the school with Ren and i was getting impatient and annoyed.

"i wouldnt know, i didnt build the school" he snapped back.

we glared at eachother.

"umm.. can we keep moving ,please?" she said nicely with a little bit of impatience, breaking the silence.

"Ok, Merideth only cause you asked nicely" Ren said snickering to himself, while walking past her to keep walking.

Mary's face redened, and i knew Ren was going to regret that, he didnt know what was about to come to him.

"dont call me that, please...", Mary said, so quietly that you could barely hear her.

"did you say something Merideth? sorry i cou-" Ren started

"RENN!" Mary screamed, making Ren turn in surprise that she could even speak that loud. i tried to hold back a laugh but failed, Ren's face was priceless, eyes and mouth wide open in shock.

Mary ran at him, full speed, and punched him hard on the face.

i stopped laughing and my face dropped. it went silent. Mary was furious with tears streaming down her face. she hated her real name and it was understandable why she did.

Back in the orphange i grew up in as a child, a little girl, came in all dirty, with a lot of bruises and cuts, crying heavily. her name was Merideth. she dropped on the orphanage floor and cried her eyes out, screaming "i hate him! i hate Merideth!", everyone gathered and two helpers cut through the kids trying to get to the fragile little girl in the middle of everyone.

She was taken in by the orphanage and was very silent for most of her time there, until one day i started crying cause a boy was making fun of me. he raised his arm at me and she stepped past the boy and bravely stood in front of me with her arms wide in protection. the boy lowered his hands and ran off. i will never forget that time and feeling i had of wanting to be brave like her. we instantly became friends and she told me her story. she said that her brother would scream her name , everytime before he beat her. she also said that she could never resist him because as a small child she depended on him cause her parents abandoned them, which was the cause of her brothers agony and abuse on her.

The Mary in front of me now dropped to the floor crying and i instantly ran over to her, glaring up at Ren. he stared at the girl on the floor crying and walked away without a word, holding his soon to be swollen cheek in his hand.

"Jerk!" i thought "he didnt even say sorry."

i hugged Mary harder and helped her up before walking back to the dorm with my arms still around her.

REN

"what's her deal?" i thought

i was in the nurse's office waiting for Ms. Mika, the nurse, to come back with an ice pack for my already swelling cheek. "why are those girls so strong?" i hated to admit ." are they even girls?" i thought to myself.

Ms.Mika walked in with the ice pack and handed it to me. i immediately placed it on my cheek, feeling a little sting and let out a sigh. this has never happened to me before. no one here would ever dare to touch me, everyone was scared of me.

and as if the Ms.Mika heard my thoughts she said " never thought i'd see you in here"

i looked up at her blue eyes and smirked.

"so didnt i" i said back

"what happened?" she said curiously, bending forward interested, showing her cleavage. she was pretty sexy and single, all the boys drooled at the sight of her, but shes too old for me.

Trying to ignore her cleavage, i swallowed hard  and said "well, i called the girl by her real name, but apparently she doesnt like being called Merideth, her friend calls her Mary, the girl screamed at me and punched me hard, then started crying. i did nothing wrong, why the fuck did i get punched?"

"well maybe she has a reason for not liking her name" said Ms.Mika, sitting back now.

the bell above us rang, announcing the end of the day.

i stood up and walked to the door and said "no one should have a reason to hate the name their parents gave them." almost to myself.

she turned around and said "huh? what was that Ren?"

 i didnt answer and just walked out .
