[Anna's POV]
It was Halloween night, I was a Fairy princess like every other five year old girl around town. Adam was two years older than me so he dressed up as a Robot. We stopped at every house that night, when we were walking back to my house it started to rain. Me and Adam ran back towards the house. We ran inside, Adam's robot costume was falling apart, my costume was stuck to my skin. We went and got changed.
"Ow! Ow! Anna stop it!" He yelled in a high pitched voice.
He playfully pushed me out of the room we were changing in. I ran towards my mom and hid behind her leg. Adam came up behind me and shouted "BOO!". I screamed and tackled him, we both crashed to the floor. I tickled him in the ribs, we both laughed till we cried. I let him get up. He grabbed my hand and dragged me towards my piano. Adam played 'Twinkle twinkle little star' for me.
"You wanna try?" He asked
I shook my head 'yes'. I sat on the bench next to him, he placed my hand on the piano keys that I needed to play. After a few tries I couldn't get the notes right, I got so frustrated I cried.
"Hey Anna, everything is gonna turn out just fine. Just keep practicing." He said
Then he hugged me. I stopped crying and tried one more time. This time I got it right. I jumped up off the piano bench and showed my mom. She was proud of me.
A Few years Later
"We are gathered here today to bid a found farewell to Abigal Jones Emerson, she was a loving mother, wife, and friend to everyone here."
I just turned sixteen, the day after my birthday I was hanging out with Adam when I got a phone call that my mom died of a unknown brain tumor. Now we just had the funeral. Adam was had his arms around me. I cried into his chest because he was a lot taller than me. I looked up into his brown eyes, he smiled. I smiled back weakly, I was moving to New York that night. I didn't have the heart to tell him. That was the last time I saw Adam.
Suddenly, someone yelled my name, I got out of my dreamworld and realized I zoned out when I'm Skypeing my friend Beth, she was staring back at my through the camera on my MacBook with a funny smile on her face. I blushed.
"So since you're in Owatonna, are you going to see Adam any time soon?" She asked
"I don't know. He probably forgot about me" I replied
She then told me she had to go. I logged out of my account and closed my laptop, I forced myself out of the chair I was sitting in and got some coffee. The cup was steaming hot, I let it cool down for a few minutes so it wouldn't burn the roof of my mouth. I turned on the radio to the local station. The radio played a Justin Bieber song. I cranked up the volume to see who he was, after the first fee minutes I felt like I was going to throw up. That's how bad he was.
My coffee had cooled down, I took a long gulp and let the warmth go from my throat to my stomach. When I was finished I put the cup in the sink along with all my other dishes. I have only been in Owatonna for a month, in a half empty house. I quit my other job in New York. My Dad wasn't to happy about it but when he realized that I was going back to Minnesota to support Adam in any way I can he understood. I went to my room to get dressed because I was still in my Pajamas. I chose: blue jean shorts, a light pink shirt, brown sandals and I tried to but my brown curly hair up in a ponytail, that didn't work out so well so I ended up just brushing it out the best I could. I also had on a light coat of mascara and lip gloss, grabbed my iPhone and put it in my back pocket. I forgot I had the radio on blaring so when I heard the radio announcer say something about Adam I literally raced out of my room and into the kitchen.
That's right folks, this young man, erm, excuse me, Adam Young, is going to text a random number. If you listener are the lucky winner all you have to do I reply to the text with your name and age and what state you live in Mr.Young, here is the number"
There was silence. The only noise over the radio was the sound of Adam typing on his phone.
"Okay sent the text" he said over the radio.
I almost melted at the sound of his voice. I mean, I heard him sing his Sky Sailing songs he posts on SoundCloud. But it's been three years since I heard him talk. However,my thoughts got interrupted when my phone buzzed in my pocket. I took it out and looked at it.
1 new message.
"Hey listener! This is Adam Young from Owatonna, Minnesota. You get to spend a day with me! Now please reply back and give me your full name, age, and what state and city you live in. Thanks!"
I nearly dropped my phone. I forced my thumbed to type:
"Hey Adam, this is Anna Emerson, age 19, and I used to live in New York but I'm in Owatonna, Minnesota. I'll have fun catching up with you!"
I hit send. Over the radio I heard his phone buzz. He caught his breath. The radio announcer asked him what was wrong. He didn't say anything. Then he said he had to leave and needed to find me.
"Well looks like Adam was in a hurry. Tune in next week for more behind the scenes in music"
I switched the radio off. My heart was pounding, every night I'd prayed to The Lord that I would see Adam again. He answered it. I said a silent prayer of thanks then head towards the door.
Hey if Adam is looking for me, I might as well look for him also.
