I think it all started that night on the back deck. The sky was beginning to darken as the last bit of sun slowly went down. Leaving beautiful colors of orange, pink, blue, and even a little hint of green painted across the sky. The deck had finally been painted and in its dust left behind an almost dark mahogany look. The chairs were neatly sat around a table with a slab that felt so smooth and in the middle lay a black lid that opened into a small attempt of a fire pit. Smoke ever so slowly floated to the table as food was placed on a stainless steel grill and the smell of food wafted over in quick bursts leaving everyone starving and excited for dinner.

Before long all that was left was empty plates and a dark sky with stars beginning to fill it with color and half of a shining moon. Soon the lid to the table was opened revealing wood that soon was lit up into flames that reflection danced across the table and everyone who sat around it. My mom was quick to pull out chocolate bars, graham crackers, and marshmallows. My old brother was quick to reach them almost tackling me in the process which led to the sounds of two teenagers bickering and a parent telling them to learn some patients. After we had settled we were each hand a long metal shining object that in a way resembled a stick with a handle at the bottom. Our marshmallows were quick to land on to the top and soon into the small fire. We watched them roast in anticipation for the gooeyness. then in swift motions they were stuck to chocolate pieces and smushed by crackers. The flavor left me wanting for more, but the stickiness of my hands begged otherwise.

Once finished we sat and watched the sky as stars came together and made their own constellations around the bright moon that provided a certain light to the darkness of the sky. My bother nudged me in one slick motion. I looked up at him in waiting and he whispered ever so slightly "Make a wish." I looked back up in the direction his finger now pointed to see a shooting star quickly shooting across the sky. I scrunched my eyes tightly closed and wished for the first thing that popped into my head. Something I had wished for years. Something that I never thought would come true. Something that isn't all what it seems to be.
