We walked into the restaurant and made our way to a seat by a window. We talked about everything like we always do and ordered food. I ate small bites of my pastitsio and pushed a bit of lamb around my plate with my fork. My stomach still turned from the news Pythia had told us today. I can't just tell the ones I love, it's like choosing who I think should live, but if it got out to Kora we may all be killed on the spot or something could happen without our preparation. Besides there's a reason Pythia warned us not to tell everyone. I must listen to her. Suddenly the table turned silent.
Leon ran his fingers through his hair looking deep in thought
"We start a group."
I raise a brow
"A group?"
"We choose 5 people we trust from the camp. Much like a rebel group, and prepare everyday for what's to come. We have to be cautious of course, so anyone you two want to choose must be run by all three of us. Especially you, Wisteria you've always been able to see through people's intentions pretty well."
I nod and look at Annessa who is unusually quiet
"Any thoughts Ness?"
"No, not at the moment."
I look at both of them
"So we should start this group as soon as possible that means looking for trusted people as soon as possible."
They both nod in agreement and I take a sip of my tea
"We meet at Wisteria's cabin when we find someone who we believe can be trusted."
Leon says. Annessa covers her mouth with her hand and yawns loudly.
"We should probably sleep on all of this. It's a lot to take in. Everything will be fine as long as we prepare."
We pay the bills and leave the restaurant heading for our cabins. I look up at the black sky to find the moon trying to hide behind the skinny branches of the trees it's color a light orange. Soon it'll be blood red and soon the calm of this camp will be chaos all for a reason unknown to us. I drag myself into my cabin and throw myself onto my soft bed immediately falling into a slumber as soon as my head hit my pillow.I woke up my eyes puffy and my skin dry. I got up and walked over to my mirror looking scarier than Kora does on a regular basis. I slide into my shower and wash my face throwing on a black crop top, forest green jacket, black jeans, and black short combat boots, then throwing my hair into a long messy braid. I stepped outside my cabin, the brightness of the morning sun stinging my eyes. I stop in front of my cabin and look around the camp, not sure where to begin my search finding 2 trusted people to join our rebel group, while Annesa finds 2 and Leon finds 1. Suddenly, a tall black figure moves in the corner of my eye. I spin around to see someone in black garments peeking behind the cabin next to mine, their face not easy to make out. I run towards the mysterious being and they see me their eyes widen, a light golden shade of brown they turn and run into the woods. I continue to run following them. Finally I become close enough to tackle them, which is all I can do to stop them. I find myself pinning them to the forest floor their eyes meeting mine, filled with terror. My eyes narrow.
"Who are you? And what do you want? Tell me and I won't hurt you."
"Get off of me and I'll tell you what you want."
He spoke without a Greek accent, he is not from here.
"Fine." I help him up but then pull out a knife from my back pocket swiftly pinning him against a tree and holding it against his throat the blade barley touching his flesh. The f**ker was about to run again.
"She wields a knife."
He utters
"Tell me who you are or she'll drive it through your soft neck."
He raises a brow and spoke
"My name is Ace, I come from Canada. Honestly I have no idea where I am or what weird camp looking place that was."
He takes the hood off of his head revealing what he fully looks like. He's handsome, but his arrogance is something that makes him less attractive. He has light brown shiny hair, golden brown eyes, and a muscular figure. Not as muscular as Leon's, but muscular and fit.
"It's the camp of Nightkeep."
"Nightkeep? Never heard of that. Sounds medieval or something. What's your name by the way? Kind of rude not to introduce yourself don't you think?"
"Medieval?" I frown and look at him "And why should I tell you my name? You're not from here. I don't know your intentions."
"My intention is to get home, but I have no idea where I am or how I got here. The last thing I remember was walking through a forest in Canada with my friends. We were buzzed so we weren't really watching where we were going. I ended up getting separated from them and ended up here. I stayed in a small village I found 3 days later for a while then moved on and ended up homeless for 6 days, but I've adapted well here."
I remove the knife from his throat and put it in my boot
"I see, well it's not safe for you to be here."
"Why not?"
Shit...what do I say
I grab his arm and pull him back to the camp, quickly hiding him inside my cabin.
"I'll tell you, but you cannot tell a soul."____________________________________________________________
Hope you enjoyed this chapter, because I enjoyed writing it. The picture above is actually a picture of the moon in the story. Think of it as a count down type of thing until the day comes. Each chapter the moon will be a darker shade of orange then eventually red. In the next chapter I'll have a picture of what Ace looks like for anyone who's curious as to what he looks like in my head. Thanks for reading. 😚💞
