I came back almost everyday for him. I mean, for the potion brewing and the books of course. With a little bit of his guidance, I managed to learn how to identify the potions and even memorised some of the simpler recipes by heart. It did help that I could identify the herbs that my family collected for him. What I noticed was that every time I came back, we would work on a batch of potions that required a more powerful magical core and I sometimes worried that we wouldn't be able to get it. As far as I knew, I didn't have that power, barring the ability to shift. But then, almost everyone in the village could shift so I wasn't anything special at all. But Drew didn't seem to be worried. It seemed to me that he had some idea how much power there was, only a vague estimate of it though and he appeared to be testing the boundaries. I didn't question him. After all, what was I? I was only his assistant.
It took me awhile to notice the raven that perched on his roof whenever I cam to work. Probably wouldn't have noticed if it didn't stare at me like it's eyes were boring into my soul. It was creepy. Drew frowned when I mentioned it to him. After that, he always waited for me outside the shop and the bird not anywhere that I could see.

Andrew wasn't waiting for me outside like he use to. For some reason, it was making my heart beat faster like something just wasn't right. I hurried a little, pushing the door to the little shop open. There was no one. Somehow, it just made my heart beat faster as I walked further in.
"Drew?" I called out.
"You must be his bonded."
I gasped, spinning around quickly. "Who are you?"
"Sorry, Andrew must have forgotten to tell you who I am," she sighed. "My name is Morgana. But you can call me 'Morgan' not 'Mrs Sanguinolentus' or I will have to kill you." She laughed.
Somehow, I didn't think she was very funny. "Are you looking for something?"
Her eyes had a glint that seemed more manic than friendly. "As a matter of fact, I am."
"Anything I can help you with?" Not that I wanted to but I was Drew's assistant and she was a customer. A crazy customer.
"Not yet, no. I'm waiting for Andrew. Haven't seen him in a while. Five years in fact"
I blinked. Okay, so she didn't want my help. Great, she was super creepy anyway. "Okay, I'll go check to see if he's at the back."
I started to back away when she grinned and said, "No need. He's here."
Drew walked into the shop, panting words of apology for oversleeping until he saw the woman. And then he stopped short. "You."
"Me." The grin was back.
"What do you want?"
"Nothing, just a social call if you will." She got off the stool from which she had seen fit to sit on right when she had came in. "I have a proposal to make."
"No." I had never seen Drew look so angry.
"You haven't even heard me out. Don't be such a child, Andrew. I already have a five year old at home." She rolled her eyes.
At the mention of children, Drew's eyes softened slightly. "How is Parvolus?"
She wrinkled her nose. "A handful. But I'd be worried if he wasn't." Her tone changed along with the topic of conversation. "Ego dicam tibi. Seorsum." She glanced at me.
Drew looked unhappy again. "Fine. The back."
I wanted to know what was happening. But I didn't understand the language they were speaking. And it was obviously not meant for my ears anyway. I tried to focus on tidying up the shelves since we hadn't started brewing anything yet, but all I could feel was the growing tension in my chest. It was like the longer I waited out here, the tighter my insides felt and if it didn't stop soon, I wasn't going to be able to breathe. Breathing was already tough at this point.
That's when they came out. Morgana looking unhappy and Drew looking just as upset. I moved out of the way when she left without another word, ignoring my presence like I never existed. The tension in my chest dissipated when she stepped out, just as Drew's features relaxed.

She wanted their blood. But he knew that if he gave it to her, they would forever be under her control. He had wasted time with her. He couldn't ruin the boy's life too. He told her 'no' and her expression turned stormy but he held on to his answer. She let him feel her power and it was only his bond that gave him the release he needed to not buckle under her pressure. No, she couldn't have what she wanted. Not this time. Not for this.

Drew relaxed when he she left and so did I. It took me half a day before I even mustered the courage to ask him if he was alright. He nodded distractedly which didn't really make me feel much better about it, but he gave me a tiny smile and lightly squeezed the back of my neck which did make me feel better then. Today, he took out the chocolate biscuits, which I knew were because of the trying morning we had had. Chocolate makes everything much better even if it did make my Panther a little sick if I ate too much. I didn't give a shit right now. Was it weird that I really cared about his emotions?
Drew didn't make us try any more higher level potions today. It appeared he was too upset, shaken even, about the encounter with Morgana, who strangely seemed like a nice lady but not a nice lady. And the way they interacted, it was clear they had met before. I didn't dare pry, there was more to this lady than met the eye. And there was more to Drew than met the eye. I just didn't know what. I don't think I was quite ready to know what.
That night, I had a dream, the first one I'd had since I met Drew. But this time, it was different. I dreamt of the day I fought that wolf and killed it. I don't know why, but when I woke, I was aching in my side. The same place I had gotten those stitches five years ago. My fingers absently rubbed the slightly raised flesh as I got up to go to work.

Hey Guyz! Here's Chapter 3 for everyone! With the kind of schedule I have, the only reason I got this up so fast is thanks to the flu bug. I'm sick and bored. And boredom is the lack of creativity so I decided to change that. Enjoy!
