Chapter 7

Lightning Flare

Lucy stared after Laxus as he left almost running out of the guild hall. "What was that all about?" she voiced her question as Gray sat down, Sasaki sitting next to him.

"Asami was Laxus' best friend before she had to leave." Gray told her. "They were really close."

"He loved her." Happy trilled from his place on the table.

"So, was that a glimpse of the old Laxus?" Lucy asked.

Sasaki nodded. "Before he got the scar, that's what he was always like. He cared more for the guild members than anyone else. Even Natsu, he even used to like sparring with Natsu for fun." Sasaki let her know. Just thinking about the old Laxus was enough to make her sad. That scar had changed him, and not in a good way. She just wished she knew whether Asami being back could bring back the old him or not.

*Laxus*

The train finally arrived and Laxus got on sitting by the window and wondering how Asami would react when he found her. Sasaki had told him that she told Asami about him being excommunicated and why. He just had a feeling that seeing Asami was going to be filled with tears and her yelling at him for being an idiot.

Laxus sighed and stared out the window just wishing the train could arrive already so he could know that Asami was ok. The train was about halfway there when he saw a yellow flash of light fly by his window into the sky. "What's that?" he muttered looking up toward the sky where it had headed. Suddenly he saw the sky light up with the Fairy Tail Symbol, in lightning. "That's Asami!" he realized quickly as he grabbed his bag off the seat next to him and changed to his lightning teleportation mode to get to her faster. He reappeared and quickly found her scent following it easily. Soon enough he found her, she was in the middle of a group of dark mages!

"Hey there Fairy. You're a cute one." The leader Laxus guessed walked closer to her.

"Stay away from me creep!" she ordered getting into a fighting stance. "My guild already knows where I am."

"No one's coming for you." Another of the dark mages piped up. "This place is deserted."

"Oh really?" Laxus asked as he walked closer pulling his power forward so the lightning crackled over his skin. "I suggest you leave her alone, or you deal with me."

"Laxus." Asami whispered as her legs gave out and she wilted to the ground staring up at Laxus with wet eyes.

"Don't make me laugh." The leader rolled his eyes looking away from Laxus. Big mistake.

"Lightning Dragon's breakdown fist!" Laxus yelled attacking him as he was the one closest to Asami. The blast hit him head on before he even knew what was happening. When he fell to the ground unconscious Laxus turned to his followers. "Anyone else want to try me?" he asked and they stared in shock at the body of their unconscious leader for just a second before turning tail and running away. "Weak idiots." He muttered before quickly rushing over to Asami. "Are you ok?" he asked her worried.

"Laxus? Is it really you?" she stared at him in shock tears falling.

"Yeah Ami, it's really me. Sorry I wasn't here sooner." He apologized kneeling down next to her where she had fallen. "Are you ok?" he asked again wiping away the tears.

"I'm ok." She nodded. "I just, I'm really low on magic power after being attacked by Wyverns on my way back. I knew I wouldn't be able to fight them off, so I sent the flare off."

"Ok." He sighed in relief as he stood up and picked her up carrying her in his arms. "Hold on tight." He advised her as he let the lightning spark on his skin as he teleported them to Magnolia.

"I can walk you know Laxus." She smiled up at him.

"I just really missed you. Let me have this moment." He told her quietly not used to showing his feelings so honestly.

"Ok." She smiled once more wrapping her arms around his neck tightly. "I missed you too."

He walked with her in his arms all the way to the guild only putting her down carefully once they were outside the doors of the guild hall. Then he opened the doors and led her inside.

"Asami!" Sasaki yelled running up to her. "Are you ok? What happened?"

"I was attacked by wyverns, and then some dark mages, but Laxus saved me." She assured her. "I'm ok, just low on magic power."

Sasaki sighed in relief leaning into Gray who was standing by her side. "I told you she would be fine. Laxus wouldn't let anything happen to her." He reminded her with a smile and she nodded knowing he had been right.

"Asami." Macao smiled, "I'm glad to see you're ok."

"Sure." Sasaki muttered sarcastically under her breath. "That's why you wouldn't let anyone search for her."

"It's ok now. She's back, that's all that matters." Gray reminded her, and Sasaki nodded knowing he was right once again, and walked with Asami and Laxus into the infirmary.

"I'm fine." Asami told Laxus once again and he sighed.

"And I told you, Wendy's going to check you anyway." He retorted with a small smile, reminding Sasaki of the old Laxus.

"Fine. But you're staying." Asami ordered him.

"I wouldn't want to be anywhere else." He told her sitting in the chair by the bed she was sitting on waiting for Wendy.

"You may change your mind." Sasaki muttered seeing the familiar expression on her best friends face. Knowing this Sasaki left and not even seconds later heard the familiar sound of Asami yelling.

"You idiot!!" she screamed at Laxus. "What the hell were you thinking??!!"

"What was I thinking?" Laxus asked confused.

"When you got yourself freaking excommunicated!!!!!" Asami yelled upset. "You're a damn idiot!"

"I don't know what I was thinking. I was just so upset that people saw us as weak." Laxus explained his fighting festival feelings to her as best he could.

"That doesn't give you a damn right to make our nakama fight each other!" she yelled once more. "Especially because Mira thought Freed was going to fucking kill Elfman! How could you even think of doing that to her? Especially after everything that family has been through!"

"I didn't mean too. I was just upset, and so were Freed, Bix, and Ever. We were all upset, we just weren't thinking about how much it would hurt the others." He told her sadly.

"Obviously." She muttered, still upset with him. What had happened to him? They stop writing to each other, and suddenly he's lost his mind.

"I wasn't the only one who was part of that you know." He reminded her and she rolled her eyes.

"Yes, but you were the leader. The Rajinshuu never would have done that if you hadn't said something first." She told him knowing how the Rajinshuu almost worshipped him. They wouldn't do anything unless he said something first.

"I am sorry. You know that right?" he asked. He didn't want Asami mad at him for too long. He had been through enough without her, he didn't want to go through anything else.

Asami sighed and smiled at him leaning against him. "Yeah, Lax. I know, but as your best friend it's pretty much in my job description to give you a hard time about this stuff." She smirked up at him and he shook his head amused at her, as always.

"Ok, am I forgiven?" he checked again.

"Yes, you're forgiven. By everyone else as well, the whole guild has forgiven you by now. Well... everyone except for Macao and Wakaba. But I consider them idiots anyway." She told him just as Wendy opened the door and walked in bowing to Asami and Laxus.

"Asami- san. Laxus-san." She greeted.

"Hey Wendy." Asami smiled at her as she started working immediately moving her glowing hands over her body carefully checking for any injuries.

"She's not injured." Wendy assured Laxus, knowing he had been the one to insist Wendy check her. "But I do have a potion to give you to help you regain your magic power faster." She added turning to Asami.

"Thanks Wendy." Asami smiled as the young girl gave her the potion to drink. And when she had, Laxus led her out of the infirmary his arm around her waist the whole time.

He led her to the table where the Rajinshuu plus Sasaki were sitting and they both sat down, Sasaki giving Asami a hug as they did. Bickslow gave his signature laugh and stuck his tongue out as he did showing off his guild mark. "The Aki-Ami sisters together again, huh?"

They both smiled and nodded just remembering how that had been the name given to them by the Rajinshuu when they were all younger.

"Are you sure it's ok for you to be here Laxus?" Freed asked his leader worried. Technically you're still excommunicated."

"He's fine. He's with me, and there's no reason why he can't be here." Asami told him. "And if anyone wants to say otherwise they can deal with me."

"No, it's fine Asami. Don't kill anyone just because they don't want me here. If anyone says anything I'll leave." Laxus assured her.

"No! You're staying here and that's final." She told him stubbornly.

"Ok, I'll stay." Laxus gave in. "But you do realize you'd be seeing me at home anyway?" he checked, but she looked at him confused.

"You've been staying in my house, remember?" he reminded her and she smiled.

"So, you're staying in Magnolia then?" she asked eagerly.

"Well, I kind of have to. Need to keep you out of trouble." He joked with her. She laughed at the joke but then her smile fell as she remembered. "Asami?" he asked worried, what had upset her?

She just shook her head and buried it in his coat which she had given back to him earlier. Then she started crying, Laxus started in shock, and then wrapped his arms around her. "It's ok, I promise, it's ok." He tried soothing her.

"But I don't have it anymore." She cried.

"What don't you have?" he asked comfortingly.

"Your flare. The lightning flare you gave me. I didn't even think when I used it. But now it's gone, I don't have it anymore." She told him still crying in earnest.

"But you have me. You don't need the flare anymore." He tried to get her to stop crying.

"But what if you end up having to leave again?" she asked worried.

"I'm not going to leave. But if it's that important I'll talk to Jiji and have him make a new one. Ok?" he asked and she nodded as she finally stopped crying.

"Thanks Lax." She smiled a watery smile as she started wiping the leftover tears away.

"Ok, no more crying, you hear? If it's something like that just ask next time. No need to get all weepy." He teased her wiping away the rest of her tears with a gentle hand.

"Ok." She smiled her bright smile again theprevious tears completely gone.
