Cluttered thoughts hit me hard as I hunched over, hugging myself in the corner of the living room. I was shaking uncontrollably, and I could barely grasp the sides of my body with my sweaty palms.

This mansion was usually compacted with people, but where were they now? Every wolf of age fifteen was preparing for war. As for the others, they were sent into town to hide. And me, I refused to leave this very spot ever since I realized Charlotte was missing.

My last words to her were stuck on rewind haunting me with every repeat.

"Don't say I didn't try to warn you."

Tears poured down my face as my breathing became short gasps. I couldn't control myself anymore. I was losing it.

"Baby, what are you doing here?" Bradien whispered to me as he entered the living room. Instantly he was at my side removing the liquid tears from my face. "We need to get you into town, I'm about to leave for the fight." He said as he stood up, trying to pull me with him.

I shook my head as I fought him to stay where I was. "Alaina we have to go. Stop this." He said in a stern voice.

"No, no, no." I blubbered. "Stop pulling me! Just don't touch me!" I screamed at him.

I watched as his face faltered. He reluctantly let go of me and weighted himself on his knees in front of me.

"This is all my fault! She's gone because of me! He's hurting her because of me! Oliver is in pain because of me!" I cried.

"Baby please just," He extended his hand towards me but let it fall. His face was breaking every second he watched me. "I need you to be safe while I'm gone. I can't leave you here." He said in hopes of changing my mind.

"Do you hear that." I said in a cold voice with an emotionless expression. The room fell to silence, and you could hear the faint screaming of Oliver underground. His bones were repeatingly snapping as his wolf took over only to be un able to bare the pain placed upon his mate.

"That is the sound of Oliver dying." I said, and Bradien's face twisted into a new expression as he tried to come up with a lie.

"No." I said as I pressed my eyes closed. "Don't try to tell me that's not what's happening. I'm not stupid Bradien. Everything she feels he feels and once Bishop kills her, apart of him dies." I opened my puffy eyes. "And we both know the rest will follow shortly after."

"Alaina..." He whispered.

"You have to go. Go with Josh and Sarah to save her. I'm staying here with him because he doesn't deserve to be alone after what I've done." I finished.

"May I?" He said quietly as he gestures towards me. I nodded slightly and he embraces me. "I know you think this is your fault, but we are all at fault here." He whispered into my ear.

I didn't respond, I couldn't think of anything to say.

"I love you." He said breaking my thoughts like a dam. I pushed him back so I could see his face. "I've always loved you. Even before I met my mate I loved you. Things just got complicated, and they never stopped getting that way." He finished. It was absolutely quiet, and his smile gradually fell.

"Please just say something..." He mumbled.

"I love you too, but..."

"You think I'm going to leave you again." He deadpanned.

"Bradien you-" I started.

"No." He said as he got to his feet. "I love you, and I'm going to fight right now not just because I need to save my family, but because if... if I don't leave now I'm going to break something, and... I don't want that to be you."

"Bradien stop. You can't leave after that." I said as I stood up.

"No. I don't know what I'm going to have to do to make you understand that I'm never going to leave you ever again, but I'm going to do it. Starting with going to fix this family and coming back to you." He said angrily, and with that he stormed out of the room leaving me by myself.

The air felt thick and suffocating. I quickly gathered my emotions and walked over to the hidden staircase in the closet underneath the stairs. I eased down the dark polished steps into the cell holding rooms. Heavy panting clouded my ears as I walked around the corner.

I was surprised to see Oliver's wolf cowering against the far wall. "Hey... it's me, Alaina..." I whispered as his blue eyes darted in my direction. I hadn't been around Oliver's wolf since we were just kids playing in the woods.

He rolled his massive head over onto the top of his paws. I slowly walked over to the cage he was held in. "They are going to get her... I have faith." I mumbled.

He whimpered in response, and I rested my head against the silver bars. "They really built this place up when we were kids, huh." I said as I looked over to him.

He had his eyes closed, and for the first time to day he was painless. "Good idea buddy." I murmured as I closed my eyes.

I shifted on the floor and moaned at my aching back. My throat was completely dry as if I hadn't drank water in days, and if I had planed on staying the night down here, I'd need a blanket, pillow, and maybe some food.

I looked over to Oliver, who was still a wolf, sound asleep. A thin lines smile appeared on my face he was actually in peace. I quietly stood up being careful not to disturb him, and I backed way from the large cage.

As I backed up to the stairs I bummed into one of walls making a soft thud. Oliver's eyes shot open almost immediately, and a growl erupted from the back of his throat in warning. "Shhh, Oliver it's just me." I said trying to calm him down.

"Actually that's not true." A deep voice spoke from behind me. That's when I realized I had ran into a body not a wall.

I froze in place where I stood as Oliver lurched forward against the bars making them rattle. The man behind me swung me around to face him. "Hello Alaina." He grinned and fear pulsed though my veins.

He jerked my wrist towards him, and I yanked it back, making my bracelet snap and smash to the floor in several pieces. My eyes widened in horror, and that's when a loud clatter of metal collided with when cement floor from behind me.

The man cursed under his breath and let go of me to face Oliver. I instantly bolted up the stairs and ran into the first floor.

Howls rang throughout the forest, echoing against the glass walls making me cringe at the sound. They finally came for me I thought.

Oliver is strong, but he can't take on all of these wolves. I needed to get to Oliver's bedroom where Charlotte had hidden a gun for safety.

I ran to the stairs and paused before continuing. This place was a maze one wrong turn up there, and I was a dead girl. I took a deep breath and stepped on the first step.

Taking the stairs two at a time I reached the top in no time. I went strait for the third hallway and that's when things got complicated.

"Think Alaina, think back to that hide and seek game." I mumbled as I came to a left or right turn. "Right." I mumbled as I ran down the wooden floors.

"Alaina Bayne..." A male voice called out, filling me with panic. "I know you're up here. I can smell the fear rolling off of you in waves. You can't hide forever! Come out now, and your pet wolf won't be harmed!" He threatened.

I didn't answer but only continued forward. Images of Oliver played though my mind, and I almost went back for him, but I didn't. I had a better chance of saving us both with that gun.

"Don't say I didn't warn you!" He yelled, making a chorus of howls uproar from outside. My eyes lingered out the wall window were a hundred wolf eyes stared up at the house in anticipation.

My palms were sweating as the loud thump of boots came around the corner. I pushed a door open on the end of the hallway and ran inside.

The familiarity of Oliver's room fell upon me as I went strait for Charlotte's nightstand. I rummaged around in it when suddenly I was ripped up from off of the floor.

"I told you I'd find you." He said and in the pale moonlight his white teeth sharpened. In one quick swift motion he tore into my forearm.

A scream sounded from my mouth as he let me fall back to the floor. He wiped my dripping blood from his mouth and smiled. "It was an honor to serve you Luna Alaina." He said as he bowed. "It's time to go home now."

He lifted me up and my arm dangled above the nightstand. My hand closed around the wooden Christmas gift Charlotte had gotten Oliver, and I stabbed it into the shoulder of the mysterious man slave to Bishop.

He dropped me again, and I hit the stiff floor. I didn't waste time dawdling because I knew he was already up and following me. I went back to the nightstand and reached in to retrieved the gun. I didn't get a chance to look, but I turned around and fired twice.

Silence surrounded me, in a bubble. The man laid motionless in front of me crippled. The gun was trembling in my hands as I gripped it tightly. I wasn't breathing normally. My lungs felt like they were going to burst with the little air they were receiving.

My arm was ignited with fury as the infection entered my bloodstream. Thick red syrup gushed out of my skin as I stood up. I walked over to the bathroom, still clutching the gun for dear life. I paused as my foot crunched over something. I looked down and picked up a rose stem. The last petal connected to the flower broke off and floated to the hard wood.

Claws crossing the wooden floor made tense, but Oliver's ragged body limped into the bedroom.

I quickly eased him into the bathroom and barricaded the door. In a rush I attempted to clean up both of our wounds. He remained as a wolf in defense form as his wounds healed.

However my own wound stayed the same and grew worse by the minutes. There was no way to stop this transformation. I was eventually going to be a werewolf, and that's assuming if I even survive the bite.
