"Harry, I have no idea what we're even doing here," I groaned. "Oh, don't be a negative Nancy," he grinned, "It'll be a lot of fun." Yeah, that's the thing though," I told him, "I have no idea what it is. And you're scaring me right now." Harry was wearing a superman suit complete with the cape, and we were standing on a bridge overlooking the highway.

"Don't jump off or anything," I said nervously. He laughed. "I won't." He stepped up onto the edge of the bridge. "Harry!" I yelled, "Harry, what the hell are you doing?!" "Calm down," he said, and then jumped.

"Harry?! Oh no, oh no, oh no please no." I looked down at the road, searching for him and trying not to cry. Then I noticed a ledge a foot below the bridge. Harry sat there, smiling up at me. "Oh, fuck you!" I yelled. I'd thought it was happening again. I'd seen Alfie's eyes inside of Harry's. I walked away angrily, trying to compose myself, and he jumped back up and followed me. "I'm sorry, it was just a joke," he said teasingly. "It's not a joke to me, Harry!" I yelled, turning around to look at him. I hid my face in my hands. "I'm sorry," he said, sounding as if he knew. Then he added, "I'll never leave you." I sighed as he hugged me, relief flooding through my bones. He was alright. I was alright. That was the important thing. He pulled away and then asked, "You in the mood for Thai?"

I was exhausted by the time we were heading back to my house in his car. In all my life, I never thought I'd play laser tag. Much less enjoy it. I never thought I'd run through the streets on a sugar high flapping my arms and singing. I never thought I'd meet someone that could take away the pain whenever they were around. But I did all of those things today. And it had felt good. I felt the car go into park and opened my eyes. "Goodnight, Diana," said Harry. He looked nervous but I couldn't see why. He had looked that way often times when we were together and I wondered if anything was bothering him. "What's wrong, Harry?" I asked. He shut his eyes tightly and leaned back against the seat, looking stressed. He was silent for a few moments and I waited for him to speak until he finally said, "Might as well come out with it." And then he opened his eyes in a flash and kissed me. I felt fire, that felt as though after so many years of being snuffed out it had finally ignited again and was warming me from the inside out. But the feeling was too familiar, and I was confused and hurt and afraid, and I pushed him away. "I'm sorry," he said. I opened the car door and ran away from him into my house as he called my name behind me.
