Chapter 6
BEEP BEEP, I reached over Ethan's sleeping form and grabbed my phone, turning it off. I climbed out of bed trying my best not to wake either of them up. I succeeded, I took a quick shower before realizing I left my bag in the room. I didn't want to wake anyone up so I just entered the room in my towel and snatched up my bag but before I could leave I heard something.
"Mommy?" Kayden's little head lifted up from the mattress.
"Yup baby, lay back down. I'll come get you when it's time to get ready."
"Okay," he said before laying back down and cuddling next to Ethan on the large mattress. I walked back to the bathroom and slipped into my light wash skinny jeans. I quickly pulled my white tank top on over my bra and slipped on my Nike windbreaker and Nike Roches. I combed my hair and left it to dry.
"Kayden, baby, it's time to get up. Ethan, get up." I said both of the groaned and swatted my hands away from their shoulders. "Fine I was gonna make you guy's bacon but now..." I trailed off and both of them shot up in bed looking at me horrified. I giggled and jumped off the bed and down the stairs. I made my way to the kitchen and made bacon, eggs, and toast while the boys were getting ready.
"We're ready," Ethan yelled from the hallway. I could hear both his and Kay's footsteps running toward the kitchen. They both came in and Ethan sat in his chair. I walked around the island and hoisted Kay up into his chair. We ate all of the food I made before we headed off to school. Ethan dropped me off first.
"So do you have a plan for getting home or do you want me to come pick you up?" He asked me as I was getting out of the car. Crap I hadn't thought about that.
"I'm sure one of the boys can give me a ride home or maybe even dad."
"Okay, text me if you need me to pick you up."
"I will, bye Ethan. Bye Kayden." I said before closing the car door and walking into school. I walked to my locker and opened it, placing my backpack in it and grabbing my books for first period. A hand grabbed my shoulder and spun me around. I came face to face, well more like face to chest, with Aiden.
"Hey." He simply said.
"Hey."
"So there's this party at Derek's house tonight. Kind of like a pre-game ritual, and I was wondering if you wanted to come." He said looking down at his hand, he seemed nervous.
"I'd love to. What's his address?" I asked pulling out my phone to type it in so I could get there later. Aiden put his large hand on top of my small one stopping me. I looked up to find him smiling.
"I'll pick you up at eight." He said before walking away, the crowded hallway parting for him like the red sea. Well that happened. I smiled to myself as I shut my locker and began walking to AP Lit. Charlie caught up with me.
"Why are you all smiley?" he asked falling in step beside me. I smiled up at my big brother.
"Aiden just asked me to go to a party with him." I responded happily nothing could bring my mood down.
"Aves, you're not going." Except that. My older brother had stern look on his face.
"Why?" I asked loudly. A few students turned toward us, but eventually went back to what they were doing.
"Because I said." Oh no he didn't.
"Really? Oh my god Charlie you're not dad, stop acting like you are." I spat at him angrily. He grabbed my wrist but I ripped it out of his grip and walked in the opposite direction of AP Lit. I had never cut class but this seemed like the perfect time. Oh my god, I had never had a guy even ask me out cause they were terrified of my brothers and now that someone has they won't let me go with him. I walked over to the woods by the school and to a little bridge over a stream that I found on a run the other day. I sat on the bridge and closed my eyes just soaking in nature when I heard footsteps coming from my right.
I opened my eyes and came face to face with Sam. "What?" I asked angrily.
"You know Charlie told me what happened and he feels really bad. Aves you know he loves you and that's why he's protective, why all of us are protective." He said sitting next to me on the bridge.
"Then why the hell isn't he here talking to me?"
"Well remember that time when you got mad at me and when I came to apologize you threw a book at my head and I had to go to the hospital and get stiches. He didn't feel like getting stiches so he sent me." He answered chuckling. The story cause me to giggle. "You can go."
"What?" I asked confused.
"To the party, you can go." He said calmly. I squealed and clamped my small arms around his neck. "Just be careful, Aves, they are mean people in the world."
"Okay I promise. Thank you, thank you, thank you." I said kissing his cheeks over and over, causing him to chuckle. We got up and walked back to the school together, both of us happy.
**********************************************************************************************"Alright, guys, on the bus." I yelled to the football team. We were doing team building activities instead of practice today.
"Avery where are we going?" Aiden asked slinging his arm over my shoulders. I patted his hand before flinging it off of me.
"Nice try but it's a surprise." I said grinning at him. He was pouting causing me to giggle. I sat down behind Coach but Aiden pulled me up and dragged me along to the backseat with him. The backseat sat three people. Aiden was on my left, I was in the middle, and Derek was on my right. They were both asking me the whole way where we were going.
"Please, Avery, where are we going?" Aiden asked tickling my left side. Derek joined in tickling my right side.
"Guys stop. Please." I begged in between giggles.
"All you have to do is tell us where we are going." Derek said in his low voice.
"Fine but you can't tell anyone else." They both immediately stopped tickling me. "We are going to an Army ranger training course. One that my dad uses with his team."
"Cool, now was that too hard?" Aiden asked leaning back and putting his arm around my shoulders. Derek did the same with his arm. This year is going to be good.
