I'm (y/n) Gale, Dorothy Gale's sister, yes that Dorothy the one that went to Oz and blah blah blah. She told me all about it and to be honest I'm a bit jealous, I wanted to meet her new friends in Oz, actually I wouldn't mind staying there due to Kansas being one of the most dullest places on the planet. I love Aunt Em and Uncle Henry and doing barn work is fun at times but as far as friends, fun and adventure go? I have none. Everyone was busy with the tornado damage and clean up so I was also helping with that. I was already outside when Dorothy comes out of the house saying it's not fair. Aunt Em, Uncle Henry and I go comfort her. Aunt Em tells her it's just a house and if we need a new one we'll find one. Dorothy shakes her head "no we can't leave." Uncle Henry tells her "Dorothy we have to face the facts, look at the barn and the house, we'll have to have it all appraised but we shouldn't get our hopes up."
Then we hear a car horn and a pink car comes speeding into the yard. A little guy with a beanie and jacket hurries to open the driver door but it opens up itself, from the driver knocking him over. The driver steps out with a megaphone "move back, move back we need to create a halo of safety around this disaster area thank you" Toto growls at him, I agree with Toto, I don't like him either. Aunt Em goes up to Megaphone-guy "Excuse me, this is our home" the guy turns to her "your home?" he laughs a crazy obnoxiously loud laugh then stops "a home is where you live, this is a disaster area" he then gets mad at the megaphone and shoves into the hands of his little sidekick. Uncle Henry asks him "who are you?" the man replies "I am the appraiser" he shows his ID, flipping it closed with a flick of his wrist. Dorothy asks "are you with the government, I didn't see a badge" Aunt Em quiets her "Don't be rude Dorothy" Mr. 'Appraiser'  replies "oh, outspoken" he pulls out a clipboard and writes something on the paper "we're government adjacent" and whistles walking towards the house and starts looking at the house, well the porch.
"broken support beams, cracked con- are you writing this down?" he pokes his sidekicks head. He then shoves on the beam, the top moving. I yell at him "What are you doing!?" he turns to me. "oh this one does speak, funny for a while there I thought you were mute" I glare at him while he replies to my earlier statement "that beam was about to fall, I just saved your life I don't need any recognition just doing my job" he turns back to the house, Toto and I growl at him as he starts taping caution tape on the house. He says "now, I made a thorough investigation and I'm afraid you'll have to vacate immediately" he sticks a condemned sticker on the beam. Aunt Em looks bewildered "What?" the guy shoves the clipboard into Uncle Henry's hands while Dorothy tries to convince him that we could fix it "I'll fix it myself if I have to" I stand next to her "we'll fix it if we have to" Dorothy smiles at me "thanks (y/n)" I smile back "no problem."
The Appraiser looks at us "so sorry but, according to the state of Kansas, the fate of this property is decided by me, not some little girls" Toto bites his ankle and the Appraiser growls about him being a flee biting squirt, while his little sidekick tapes up Toto with the caution tape. The Appraiser says as he walks to his car "you've got until sunset to vacate the premises meet me at the shelter in town to sign the paperwork or we'll be back to throw you out" he and his sidekick soon drive off. Uncle Henry sighs "well that's that, better start packing" me and Dorothy look at him "what? No" Aunt Em looks at us "you heard what the man said, if he says the house is unsafe I won't have you girls in it" Dorothy gets upset "who is he to decide that? it-it's fixable!" Uncle Henry puts a hand on her shoulder "these are grown up decisions, Dorothy, sorry but you're gonna have to leave this to us" I shake my head "well I'm not leaving! This is our home!" I run off and Dorothy follows, Aunt Em tries to call out to us but we don't listen.
We go to the chicken coop, Dorothy looks inside "anybody home?" I could hear the chicks and their mother. The chicks come out but the mother can't due to a piece of wood blocking her way. Dorothy open the gate and we all go in. "We can fix this easy" Dorothy nods in agreement and kneels on the ground, the chicks coming up to her. Toto barks and I shush him "you'll scare them" She picks one up and pets it. I pull the piece of wood out of the way and Dorothy escorts the chicks back into the coop with their mother. We wave at them and head to the barn. I see Charlotte, our horse, and I pet her head "hey girl" she neighs and looks up at her roof, it's leaking. I grab a tin sign and climb up the ladder and put it over the hole but it falls into her stall. I sigh and come back down, Dorothy puts a comforting hand on my shoulder "let's go into town" I nod and follow her.
People are leaving in a hurry, honking their horns, packing their things. It's so sad to see, we walk past a house with a little girl in the yard, too innocent to know what's going on, her dad packing their things. Soon we reach a hill that overlooks our town and sit on the ground for a break. We both hear thunder and Toto barks at something behind us, Dorothy looks "oh, look (y/n) how pretty" I look behind us and see a full rainbow "wow" after looking at it for a few minutes it looks like the rainbow is turning. I look at Dorothy "is it just me or does the rainbow look like it's turning?" Dorothy shrugs "it must be some kind of optical illusion" I start to back up "well it looks like it's getting closer" Toto barks in agreement and the wind starts blowing the closer it gets to us "Dorothy I don't think it's an illusion" Dorothy nods and turns "you're right run!" We both start running back home.
We hop the fence and head to the cellar. Dorothy and I fall through but the rainbow catches us? Toto tries attacking it but it does nothing as the rainbow keeps pulling us. We both scream as we slide into the rainbow with Toto barking at the same time. Well I did say I wanted some fun and adventure in my life right? I guess I should be careful for what I wish for.
