"Awwww! What are you looking at, of course, you are coming with me", saying this to the photograph of Prince Harry of wales proves me totally insane, my inexplicable crush since seventh grade. Talking with his photos has now become my one of the most favorite thing. Amidst my conversation I heard the soft sound of footsteps which were gaining towards my room, and I was pretty sure that was of my sister rosy, Hastily, I tucked the photograph into my bag" time to go in the suitcase and sorry for inconvenience, see ya love", I hushed and zipped the bag. Before Rosy came into my room I was all set to go downstairs so that no one can know about my Prince Harry thing. There she walked into the room scanning my bags.
She is a bit taller than me, her black long hair running down her waist and her big eyes very attractive unlike me. They all say that my eyes are beautiful in spite of being small but sometimes it is hard to believe. As she approached, a sad smile graced her lips "Hey Soms! Are you done with your packing stuff?" I nodded patting on the suitcase. Rosy wasn't looking forward to saying goodbye to me, not only her but also my mom and dad.
"Okay Soms, take care of yourself very well," she said cupping my cheek. I nodded, returning her smile gratefully. Her concern was understandable—this would be my first solo trip to London, where I had landed my dream job as a global manager. The company was covering all my living expenses, making this opportunity too good to pass up. I had eagerly anticipated this pivotal moment in my career and life.
As she scans me her eyes brimmed with tears rolling down her cheeks. Hot unwelcome tears pricked my eyes too mirroring her emotion without wasting any further second, I clung to her. Damn it! I had promised myself that I wouldn't cry, yet here I am crying like a baby.
"Okay no more tears," she muffled against my hair and pulled away, smiling at me, though tears were still in her eyes. she wiped her then mine. I couldn't help but notice, her nose has turned red because of which a bubble of giggle escaped my mouth, she couldn't help but giggle along with me. I am really gonna miss our stupid laugh.
"Come on no more tears, mom and dad are waiting for us".
I nodded, wiping the tears from my eyes. Grabbing my suitcase, I carried it down the stairs ready to face the farewell with brave smile, knowing it was just the beginning of a new chapter in my life.
" Mom," I called, listening to the thump that my suitcase made on the floor.
" Have you got everything?" She asked coming out of the kitchen. " Yes,"
"Here, keep this in your bag," she said giving me the packet of homemade dry snacks. Typical Indian mother.
"Mom, My bag is full,".
"keep it," she ordered. A small chuckle escaped my mouth.
"Thank you so much Maa,"
" Soms, eat your meal on time...okay? and remember what I told you about guys," Dad spoke.
" Yes dad, absolutely, Don't worry I have pepper spray as well,"
" Good girl, I have raised you up well," he grinned ruffling my hair. " Dad! You spoiled my hair " I groaned, trying to fix my hair, He watched me and chuckled softly. I couldn't help but chuckle along with him.
"Dad, promise me, you guys will visit me frequently," I mumbled and hugged him, blinking back my tears.
" We will," He smiled placing a kiss on my forehead as he released me.
"Mom" I turned around. There she was standing with a sad smile on her beautiful face.
"Always stay strong my little princess," Mom voice choked a bit, her eyes red with unshed tears, I nodded obediently and hugged her, wrapping my arms around her. " I'll miss you," I murmured against the soft fabric of her top.
