Today was the Nikkah ceremony. The official ceremony in which Ashar and Khirad would be bound to each other till eternity. They would surrender themselves to each other by all means. We all were getting ready because the Nikkah ceremony was to be held in some grand mosque. I wore a blue and golden polka dotted Anarkali dress with elegant gold embroidery on the sleeves. The bottom was decorated with gold and pink laces. I wore an impeccable and intricately designed tea pink coloured blouse over that and paired it with high heels. I wore my earrings and applied my makeup and I was done. I decided to keep it simple for today as everybody else had decided too. Aryan wore a white Kurta shalwar with a tightly fitted button down black waist coat over that and he looked amazing in his attire. All the guys had decided to go with Kurta and waist coat with different colour combination.
Whereas Ashar was wearing a simple yet elegant and glamorous black sherwaniKhirad was looking simple yet gorgeous in her white and purple dress. Her shirt was all white with an embroidered purple lace at the bottom and same was the case with her duppata [Scarf] whereas the churidar trousers were purple coloured. She wore a white pearled bindi over her head and applied minimum makeup.
She looked gorgeous in everything she wore. We proceeded towards the mosque in our separate cars. I was amazed by the wonderful piece of architecture in front of my eyes. It was a floating mosque and it was surrounded by crystal clear water on all the sides. It was evening time and the mosque looked grand standing in its glory. It had only one minaret standing high and a neon green coloured dome. The outer court of the mosque was surrounded on all sides by arched walls and the walls were made of blue glass which was shining with the reflection of water. It was simply amazing.
Khirad and Ashar were settled in separate places and the mullah [An Islamic Priest] was telling the vows and duties of a husband and wife towards each other. I covered my head with my scarf and so did the other girls. We could hear the voice over speaker as we were sitting with Khirad in ladies area. The boys were with Ashar and soon some of Ashar's uncles along with his dad came and Khirad was made to sign on the Nikkah papers. She held back her tears which were threatening to fall down. Her mother was sitting beside her and holding her tightly. She was holding the pen over the papers and her hands were literally trembling. It was the biggest moment of her life. She would no longer be a carefree girl but a woman with lots of responsibilities. She would now be Mrs. Ashar Hussain. The uncles encouraged her and her mother hugged her tightly from the side. It was such an emotional moment. Even my eyes had become glassy. Khirad was going to leave her parents forever. She was going to be someone else's wife. I wiped away my tears with the tissue paper and finally Khirad signed the papers and whispered in a low voice as if she was reading some holy verse. "Qubool Hai". [I do.]
By now she was crying and hugging her mother. The voice over the speaker grew louder and louder. Ashar was asked three times and he repeated the same words three time. His husky voice could be heard over the speakers.
"Qubool Hai." [I accept or I do.] His booming and confident voice even gave me goosebumps.
What would Khirad be feeling right now.
Khirad was officially married now. Soon after, the gents met us in the garden and Aryan and Osman distributed the sweets after Nikkah. Aryan signalled me something like an O with his fingers complimenting me and mouthed Patakha. [You look so good.] He soon came towards me and handed me the sweets.
"Aryan, We are in a mosque. Have some respect." I glared at him and he passed a sweet smile, biting his tongue. The function came to an end and we all went towards the resort.

The wedding days were passing in a blur. Before we knew, we had only one function left after today and that would be the Walima [Wedding Reception]. Today was Barat Day [The main function in an Indian Wedding]. All the guys decided to go with black sherwanis whereas Ashar wore a white beaded sherwani with a churidar trouser.
