Attacks at a Tokyo Shrine
Chapter 16 - Weakness"Hey, I brought you food! You've been in your room for hours, what anime is it this time?" Kiyra sighs as she enters my room with a bowl of snacks.
"Black butler." I reply, still immersed in a particularly interesting episode.
(A/N Black Butler cr. To owner)
"Jezza? Can you hear this?"
A voice echoes in my head. I jump, but Kiyra doesn't seem to notice. She continues preparing the food.
"Yeah, what is it?" I say in my head.
"I found Neran in the TMA files. He's dangerous. Not only powerful, but insane. Don't let the calm demeanour fool you. He's part of a dark organisation that was disbanded ages ago. The leader was killed, as were the other members. He escaped somehow. But... The organisation sacrificed powerful wizards in order to obtain more power. And, well... He believes you to be the descendant of a powerful Mage, Sora Makabe. But you had a deal on you to conceal your power. However, now it has been broken, you have the potential o be as powerful as he believes you are. With this information, it's likely that his new sacrifice is... Well, you." Zen explains.
"That's not true. Chiro sacrificed no one. He only escaped because there was no blood on his hands. The organisation used brainwashing to recruit members. As him about it, he remembers nothing. He still believes in that, yes, but there's no way he can sacrifice Jezza, he doesn't have the right setup. Besides, the whole thing is definitely fake. It was their excuse to murder the powerful mages to gain control of the country and then the world. But if he really is... We need to tell him the truth. I have a plan." Kiyra's voice enters my head.
Kiyra?
"When I was younger, I was very logical. I did a speech about how fake magic is, and it annoyed a lot of mages. So they decided to attack me. Chiro helped me out of the sticky situation. He's foreign, he gained his power from an attack in another country... This happened before the shrine attacks in Tokyo. I was intrigued by magic at that point, having discovered its existence. I've been experimenting with his magic. That made him stronger. Being in close quarters with magic for so long has given me the ability to become a vessel of some sorts, for magic. So I can easily intercept a telepathic message." She explains.
"I see. You said you had a plan?" I think.
"Okay, Zen, you will need to be here for this to work. We need all the power we can get. So, cameras are planted all around this room. If Jezza can successfully fake attempting to kill herself, Chiro will come. He can't sacrifice her if she's already dead, can he? He will panic and come to Jezza immediately, he won't take notice of Zen, even if he's not hiding very well. When he enters, both of you can attempt to render him unconscious. When he wakes up, we will have tied him up and prevented his escape. That way, he has no choice but to listen." Kiyra explains to us both.
"Great. I'll be round immediately." Zen tells us, then the communication link breaks.
"Jezza..." Kiyra says aloud. She has that smile again...
"You're gonna spill a secret aren't you?" I say, almost fearfully.
"Yes, the ace up my sleeve... Chiro's biggest a weakness..." She whispers.
