It's her gift.

To make everyone fall

For her smile,

And then push them away with her sadness.

And then push them away with her sadness

Chapter 14
"Tortured Mind"

Saphira's POV:

"Why do you want to know where Ryka is?" Nate asks, eyes fixated on me. Evan and Jared look just as confused as Nate, and if I look at the two best friends by my side, I bet they'll have on the same expression.

I avoid his gaze, keeping my eyes away from anyone here. There's a chance they can see the lack of emotion in me - the things I'm holding back.

"Just answer the question," I force my voice to relax, my body quickly following suit.

"His locker," Jared tells me, a confused look on his face, "why?"

"Something big is about to happen," I mutter cryptically, ignoring their insistent questions and rushing towards Ryka's location.

I don't really want to be there when Emma kisses him. I figure that it's their moment and they wouldn't want someone to ruin it for them. My plan was to simply stay quiet and wait until someone told me something at lunch.

The plan went straight down the drain  when Emma texted me this morning.

She said that she doesn't think she can go through with what I told her to do unless I'm there with her. She followed up her text with another, telling me that she's turning her phone off so she doesn't get distracted.

I was unable to get through to her, so until now, I've had no idea where Emma plans on kissing her long time crush. I'm also hoping like hell that she hasn't overthought this so much that she decides not to do it this morning

I resist the urge to jog, instead walking as fast as I can through the sea of students. A few people give me dirty looks as I push past them, but I pay no mind, focusing more on finding my red headed friend.

I hear Myra and a couple of the guys yelling from behind me, all of them wondering what the hell is going on. I ignore them, part of me saying that it doesn't matter whether or not they know, but another screaming at me - saying that it does.

I just have a feeling that what I'm telling myself has nothing to do with Emma and Ryka.

I round the last corner, only to freeze in my step towards the almost abandoned hallway. A few people wander around, but what I'm focused on is the familiar frightened gaze of Emma, staring straight at the boy she's in love with.

I put my hand out to the side, indicating to anyone walking this way to stop. The presence of others take up the spaces beside and behind me, a few people panting with the effort of getting through everyone in the halls.
