I lie face up on the twin size mattress in the garage space I have rented for the night. There are no windows visible in the compact room, but chills still make their way throughout my whole body. My eyes fight against my need to stay awake, to wonder what will now become of Adam Reid.
Is he wandering the streets now, wondering what atrocious crime he committed in his past life to deserve this, as I once did?
Is he thinking of the countless things he could have done to prevent what was now the most tragic event in his life, as I once did?
Is he standing atop the roof of the highest building in town, wondering if he should end it all, as I once did?
I lie staring at the ceiling for the rest of the night, thinking of everything, but yet, nothing at all.
