I knocked on the door of a house that supposedly my grandma resided, Jared stood right next to me. the door opened with my grandma having a look of confusion but then turns pale. she gasp, wraps her arms around me and begins to cry.
"Oh Christopher, I missed you, I didn't know if you were alive or dead!" she said
"I'm here now, that's all that matters." I said with tears down my face. Jared smiles and puts his hand to his heart as if he were touched by this moment.
"Oh grandma, this is my friend Jared." I said pulling him closer.
"Oh" my grandma said wiping her eyes, "it's very nice to meet you" she shakes his hand.
"It's nice to meet you too Mrs. Arenas." Jared said with a smile.
"Common in" my grandma said. as we stepped in, Jared and I looked around the house, it's vintage detail was everything, my grandma brought things that were from her house here at the Capital and set it the same way it had been in Hawaiian Gardens.
"I was just making dinner", said my grandma,"I hope you're hungry."
"Famished" I replied, I turned to Jared, "what about you?"
"Oh I'm fine, you guys go ahead." he said.
"Please stay, after all you did help me find my grandma!" I said.
"Are you sure?" he asked.
"Of course!" my grandma said, she passed me four plates "I want to repay the favor for you leading my grandson to us.".
I served each plate and saw Jared smiling at my grandmother. after we all sat down my grandpa came in and hugged me.
"Good to see you again." he said. "we thought we lost you."
We all began to start eating. the table was quiet awkwardly quiet. Despite all awkwardness I was glad to be with my family again.
Time had passed. Jared had left and I told my grandma everything, and I mean every single detail,
"Oh, poor Cinthia." she said as her eyes were watering.
"I know" I said "I failed, I tried saving her, but I couldn't."
"You did what you could" she told me. "don't ever give up. all of their fates: Cinthia, Adam, and Victor; they all just lessons to learn. to keep your guard up! and never give up and to always protect those you love!"
"Thanks grandma" I said with a smile. Her peering eyes of joy faded into question.
"Those voices you heard, how many where there." she asked.
"I don't really know" I replied lightly scratching my head, "I think I heard the voices of people around me."
"Your mom talked about that too." she said, "she said she would hear all of these voices and that things in the house started floating."
"What?!" I exclaimed.
"Yup, this happened a few days before the Risen came." she said. This puzzled in my mind. what did she mean by floating objects? how are they responsible for me hearing voices. could something supernatural be starting? or is it madness?
