Annabeth stood above Jason with a stern look on her face. Jason couldn't that face, Annabeth was like the mom he never had and that look always made him feel like he was in trouble.
"W-whats u-up? Jason finally managed to get out.
Annabeth noticed how terrified Jason looked and decided to be a bit kinder, not after feeling a bit of satisfaction.
"Why have you been questioning everyone about Percy?"
"Um what are you talking about"
"I just spoke to Thalia and Nico, what's the matter? Did Percy offend you?"
"Look Annabeth, I really don't want to have this conversation right now. I really appreciate your concern and I promise we can talk about it later just not tonight, okay?"
Annabeth contemplated what he said and decided that even though he wasn't planning on having this conversation again she was going to make sure they did. Annabeth gave him a long look before walking away. Jason knew that even though he got out of it tonight she would be back later.
A familiar laugh startled him out of his thoughts. He looked up to see Piper walking over to him with a look of concern.
"Everything alright Jas?"
Jason looked up and put on a fake smile,
"Of course. Why do you ask?"
"Well I was just talking with Annabeth and Thalia and Thalia mentioned that you had been questioning her about Percy."
Was his sister going to tell everyone about that conversation!!! Thought Jason.
"I was just curious about his past. And why everyone loves him so much."
Jason hoped that Piper hadn't caught that last part, unfortunately, luck was not on his side.
"Why everyone loves him? Is someone a little jealous?" teased Piper
"What? No, no, no, no it's just that I'm sick of everyone worshiping him like he is some god!"
"Well you know Jason, he almost was one."
"Yeah I know. Its just that, why did he get the chance to be a god? I mean sure he's powerful but when we fought I almost killed him."
Piper looked at Jason for a moment before responding.
"Honestly Jason I agree with you."
Jason looked up in surprise, "You do?"
"Well when I first got a good look at Percy when he stood next to you, he just looked unimpressive to me. I mean sure he's powerful but, so are you. I think one of the reasons everyone loves him is because Annabeth does."
Jason thought about this with a hint of pride in his mind, finally someone agrees with him!
"No offense to Annabeth but why would she pick him?"
Piper looked at him with shock, "because she loves him, she can't change who she loves."
"I guess thats true." Jason said not wanting to argue with the daughter of Aphrodite. He continued with a different approach as to not make her mad.
"I think its dumb that he is so popular though, all the girls love him! Why? Because he has some freak brother that he cares for? Well we all have weird siblings too! Its like everything he does is just 10 times better than when someone else does it. I just think it is so dumb, and Annabeth deserves a guy way better than him."
"Well I defiantly agree with you on that." said a rough male voice behind them.
Jason and Piper whipped around to see none other than Percy standing behind them with a blue drink in his hand. Even though the words sounded friendly enough they could both see the dark storm forming in his eyes.
"You know I can take any insults about me to my face without it mattering. But as soon as you insult my "freak" brother or my girlfriend, that is when it is not okay."
Percy took one step closer to the couple staring up at him on the log.
"If you EVER call Annabeth dumb again I will personally make sure you don't make it out of your next shower. And Piper if you ever want to call me unimpressive again you can go ahead and say it to my face. I would rather you just shout everything you hate about me to me than going behind my back and complaining."
Jason finally got some of his nerve back and stood up,
"We were not complaining!"
"Oh really than what is all this talk of, 'Oh it's not fair Percy got invited to be a god! Percy got to go run around the world acting like he is saving it making everyone love him' News flash Grace saving the world is harder than it looks, next time you want to hold up the sky, swim in the River styx, or I don't know maybe walk through Tartarus, come talk to me and then we can sort this out."
Jason suddenly lunged forward pulling out his sword ignoring Pipers arm that flung out to stop him, he wanted to destroy this boy. He stuck his arm out grabbing Percy's shoulder and with his other arm he began to move his sword up to place it on his neck. However, the body in front of him suddenly had his wrist in an iron grip and was flinging his body over his shoulder. Percy looked down at Jason who was now laying on the ground rolling in pain,
" You might want to also take some time in learning some new moves Grace."
Jason then shot up again summoning a lighting bolt to shoot down from the sky, luckily percy was expecting another attack and threw himself sideways allowing the bolt to only scrap across the side of his chest. Steam rose from Percy's chest and the smell of burning flesh soon surrounded them.
With the sudden bolt coming from the sky the campers all rushed over to see what was happening, soon a large circle was formed around the two boys.
"I don't want to fight you Jason." muttered Percy.
"You're only saying that because of the crowd, I know you've been wanting to do this. Well bring it on Jackson, let's see what you got. Unless you're scared?"
The words did not have the desired affect on Percy, in fact they even seemed to calm him down a little bit, though his eyes were still full of rage.
"You think this is a question of bravery? You're the one that just tried to stab me in the back! Some heroic move that is. I'm not going to fight you Jason. One, I don't want to hurt you, and two Annabeth would kick my butt if I did."
With that Percy began to walk out of the circle when Jason charged at him from behind unleashing all of his anger. Because of that, Jason lost control allowing his fury to drive him. Percy used his rage against him. He knew that Jason would try to go for the kill and wouldn't be thinking clearly, allowing his technique to get sloppy. They battled out sword to sword when Percy suddenly disarmed Jason flinging his sword across the field. Jason got a scary look in his eye and looked up to the sky beckoning the lighting.
Percy felt the familiar knot in his stomach as he summoned the water from the creek, he turned around forming a huge dome around all the campers to protect them from the lighting bolts that began to rain down on them. It took all of Percy's control to not let a single one break through the water.
When Jason finally ran out of energy he looked down from the sky to see all the campers staring at him in shock and fear. He then noticed the giant water dome surrounding all the campers protecting them from his wrath. As the dome began to fall apart Percy Jackson stumbled to his knees out of breath. Annabeth finally managed to break through the rest of the crowd and surged forward catching Percy before he collapsed. She called two other campers to help her get him over to the medical center. When she passed Jason he gave her a look of regret but she just glared at him and gave him a disappointed look. Chiron entered the middle of the circle and ordered all campers to return to their cabins, he then ordered Jason to go wait for him in the big house.
Jason knew that he was in a lot of trouble, but also knew that he deserved it.
