Chapter 6-The Odd One Out

I don't see why we have to do group projects sometimes. I mean, can't we just do it on our own? It's easy isn't it? As usual, I'm definitely gonna be the odd one out. It was always like this. Mei isn't in my class either so I'm left alone. Man...

Before Saya-sensei gave us permission to get into pairs, I already started forming all the different pairs in my head. I'd expect a quarter of the girls in the class to go for Akashi and he's then forced to pick one. Nanami, the girl at the front would go for her best friend Fuwa rather than her boyfriend because she knows that he'll stick with his buddy Izaki. It goes on with the rest of the class. All of the class except me, again.

As expected, almost everyone got into the groups which I had stated. ALMOST everyone. I didn't expect Akashi to actually just stride to my table and pull a chair next to mine, saying that we're partners. Like, who on earth does that? We had never spoken to each other except for that one time that he asked for my name. I'm not happy but I won't say I'm sad either. I have a partner. Not just one which the teacher assigned me but a partner that chose me. It's good for me too because it's the top scorer of the level, he definitely wouldn't let me down, would he?

Of course not.

"Okay, so did I get all the pairs right? Tell me if I got it wrong, thank you very much," Saya-sensei started reading out all the names of the class but when it came to mine and Akashi's, I could swear that the temperature in the room increased. Yo, who turned off the fans?

Maybe partnering Akashi wasn't a good idea afterall? I mean it's not my idea but still I didn't say anything to reject so I kinda picked him. Who wouldn't? It's still sorta weird that he picked me out of all people. Maybe he didn't want a partner that would pull him down like the other time and maybe the other top 3 already had their groups. Oh well, what's done is done.

I decided to ask Akashi for his reason of picking me. Guess what? I thought that he'd say something like "You're useful" or "Your results are good" But what he said was "I found you interesting." What is happening? Does he know that he has like a million fangirls around the world? He just said something that would make all those girls wanna rip my head off. Is he some mad man? Maybe he is, I saw one of his basketball games before anyways. He literally made the other players fall on their butts.
