Opening

'Mum, don't worry' I said smiling 'everything will be fine'. She look at me then my dad her eyes still red from crying.

'Its not fine Lily, its just not!' she shouted at me her eyes welling up again. I pulled her in to a hug and rocked her slowly to calm her down.

'Im gonna call Rebecca. I said I would tell her.'

I walked up to my room and got out my phone to call Rebecca.

'Hey girl' she shouted down the phone.

'Hi, I said I would tell you and this is it' I said.

'Ohh hun, no I'm here for you if you need anything at all.'

'Thanks it just a bit of a shock being told that you have cancer,' I said softly. 'do you mind coming over I need to talk to someone apart from my mum or dad.' I asked.

'Sure Lily I'm on my way.' and she hung up.

It was ten minutes later and she was here, she pulled me into a hug and I broke down.

'I don't know what to do, I feel so lost' I whispered

'Dont worry, we can take it in baby steps.' said Rebecca.

Her Brown hair pulled in to a bun and blue eyes looking into my eyes.

'Thankyou so much.' This is why I need my best friend.

'I brought ice cream' Rebecca said with a smile on her face. 'Lets eat and watch some funny movies,' she said laughing.

We were half way through watching Johnny English (which I found rubbish but thought I'd watch it any way) when my brother called.

'Hey Jay, every thing okay?' I asked.

'Yeah thanks, mum told me what the doctor said today. How is everyone?'

'Mums not stoped crying and I think dad or just staying strong for her. I'm a little upset but ill be fine don't you worry and I'm here with becca.' I said laughing when I said her name. Jay and Rebecca are boyfriend and girlfriend and have been for almost 2 years, I didn't like it at first my brother and my best friend but now its fine I think its great. We all get along well.

'Okay well I have to go so ill call you tomorrow and see how everything is, bye love you Lily.'
