Just Another Monday Morning

The morning bell rang with a sharp, shrill tone. The hallways of the run-down school building began filling with the masses of the student body, the sounds of conversation melding into one another, making the ability to hear one distinct person nearly impossible. Alex spilled out amongst the title wave of people, just trying to get through the day without being otherwise belittled, beaten up, or getting generally harassed. It's not so much that he isn't liked, just that he's an easier target to the raging hormones of the brainless adolescence that mostly occupy the school. Fortunately for him, most of the students were too busy trudging through the day to make his life a living hell. Alex still tried his best to keep his low profile as he snuck through the hallways, the only thing he wanted to do was get home and work on his game, he spent four years on this so far and was so close to finishing. "Almost free," he thought to himself as he came to a corridor that was mostly empty "just a few more steps", he began speeding up, soon devolving into a near sprint, the door getting closer and closer. A sharp, relieved smile spread across his face, knowing that he was almost out...all of a sudden as if in slow motion, a girl turns around the corner of the hall feeding into that one, !!BAM!!!, he slams directly into her. The shrill tone of her scream, as well as, the sound of his plain frame slamming against the hard linoleum floor ring into the now mostly empty school building, "Just when I thought I was gonna get away, no incident or injury." he mumbled under his breath, the pain still resonating throughout his body. Alex pulls himself off of the floor, clamoring to his feet, he tries to focus on the human being he just got into a head-on collision with, but there was a strange lack of mangled person on the ground where he was sure he had ran into just a few seconds before. "Did I just imagine that girl? Did I just trip, and being so desperate for a female connection, imagine a girl in place of just a clumsy accident?" this thought bounced around in his pain-filled skull. "NO!! I'm sure she was here!!... but this dooooooes seem just a little too ""Anime meet-cute" to be plausible..." he decided not to dwell on this too much, for fear of being found and subsequently pounded for plowing through some shmucks girlfriend. After another quick spin, to see if he can find this possibly non-existent girl, but to no avail, he dashes off through the large double doors and hops on his filthy motorcycle and revs towards his home downtown.
