"Mommy... what's wrong with Gerard?" Gabe called over to Kimby and Laura.

Laura's eyebrows rose and she quickly made her way over to me. "Gerard, honey, are you okay?"

She waved her hand in front of my face, but my mouth couldn't form a response. I sat staring down at the email, reading it over again.

Your DNA was matched.

A smile of disbelief slowly grew on my face as the words actually started to sink in.

You could save his life.

I finally handed my phone to Laura for her to read. She muttered out the words slowly as she read them, stopping at one part.

"Seventeen years old," she choked out a sob. "With leukemia."

"He's just like..." I put my hand over my mouth.

"Drew," she finished my sentence. "Gerard, you have to do this."

I laughed disbelievingly and looked toward the doll I had previously named Jesse. "Of course I will, Laura. Of course," I whispered. "Go back to Kimby now."

"Kimby?" She asked.

"Gabe's mom?" I asked and cocked my head in confusion.

Laura laughed, "Oh, you mean Kimberly?"

I shrugged, "I guess."

She walked away and I turned back to Gabe, who was staring at me. "What was that 'bout," he asked with wide eyes.

"Well, Gabe, I'm going to do something that hurts a whole lot in hopes to help a stranger," I smiled softly at him.

"Well, did you call him back?" Mikey asked, his hands wrapped around the warm mug of coffee.

We sat in a small coffee shop near Mikey's high school that I met him at after I was done with work and he was done with the tutoring he was teaching after school.

"Yeah, I basically asked him if I could meet him in person along with Frank," I sighed and stirred the over-sugared coffee with a spoon. "He, of course, said yes and gave me means of contacting Frank's mother so that we could all meet."

"And you said he was seventeen, correct?" Mikey took a sip of his coffee and looked at me with wide eyes. "That's only a year younger than me... Maybe I know him! Tell me his name again."

"Frank Iero... I doubt you know him, he lives an hour away," I said and watched as Mikey played with his nose ring. He did that a lot when he was thinking.

"Wait... No, he definitely went to high school with me in his junior year," Mikey nodded in confirmation.

"What?" I scooted forward in my seat. "That was only a year ago, Mikes. Tell me what he looked like and stuff so I'm not so scared to meet him. You know how much I hate going into situations not knowing people..."

Mikey's eyes widened. "Well, I don't know..."

"Comeon Mikey, think," I urged.

"Well, he has black hair, and it's almost to his shoulders. And he was a lip and nose piercing and..." Mikey sniggered. "He's short, but kinda badass. A lot of girls swooned over him, but he never dated any of them... He was kind of like an untouchable artifact in a museum to everyone, and then one day, he just moved. No one knew why, and we still don't."

To my demise, Mikey stopped talking. I gestured for him to continue, but he just shrugged. "Sorry, Gerard. That's all I know."

"Seriously? He sounds like someone you would hang out with: all punky and shit. Why weren't you friends with him?!" I demanded an answer.

"Like I said, he was kind of unreachable. I tried, of course, but he shrugged me off," Mikey shrugged at that. I sighed and put my head in my hands.

"He doesn't even sound like a good enough person for me to get a very painful surgery done," I groaned. Maybe Mikey was over exaggerating. Maybe he'd changed since then, the cancer giving him a real view on society.

"Don't say that! There was one person that got close to him... I guess I can try to talk to her tomorrow at school if that will make you happy. When are you going to meet the doctor and Frank?" Mikey sighed, probably wondering why he still associated with me.

"Yes! Please! Talk to her, Mikes!" My face lit up and I took a long drink of my almost empty coffee.

"You're kind of obsessed," Mikey laughed at me.

"Well... I don't want to go into this surgery knowing nothing about him. I don't know... I thought that I wouldn't care about the person all that much if this happened, but that's not how it is," I shook my head. "You wouldn't understand unless you were me."

It was much more complicated than that, I just didn't know how to explain it.

Mikey rolled his eyes. "Whatever, Gerard. I'll talk to her tomorrow."

When I got home, I grabbed my phone from my pocket and dialed the number Dr. Handel told me was Frank's mother's.

It took a few deep breaths and a lot of self motivation for me to actually hit the dial button, but I eventually did.

I was answered after three agonizing rings.

"Hello?" Came a woman's voice on the other line.

"Uh, hi. Is this Linda Iero?" I asked hesitantly, trying to steady my voice.

"It is. Who is this?" She answered.

My heart was beating a mile a minute as I replied. "This is Gerard Way. Dr. Neil Handel may've told you about me..."

There was a crash from the other line as Linda presumably dropped her phone. "Oh, OH! Oh my goodness I'm so sorry Gerard. I thought you were a telemarketer or some other. Hello! Oh my goodness gracious, it's so nice to finally talk to you!"

I laughed softly. "It's nice to talk to you as well! I just thought I'd call..."

"Oh, yes dear! Don't be a stranger. Actually, I'd love to meet you," there was a sound like she was muffling the receiver, then she spoke again. "We'd love to meet you, I mean- Frank, honey, sh."

My eyes widened. He was with her.

"Are you free for dinner tomorrow, dear? We'd love to have you over. I make a mean green bean casserole," she offered, leaving me speechless.

"Uh, yeah I am free tomorrow... I don't exactly know where you live, though," I laughed softly.

"Hm? Oh yes! Do you have a pencil and paper near?" I scrambled to grab something to write with, but I had a notepad on the table next to me. "2163 Gilman St. Belleville, New Jersey. How's five for you?"

"Five? Five sounds great," I confirmed. "I'm excited to meet you two."

"Yes, we're excited to meet you as well," I could hear the smile in her words. "I- we really appreciate what you're doing, Gerard. You're a miracle."

I felt my cheeks heat up. "Oh, goodness. You don't have to say that, I'm just glad I can help someone..."

"See you tomorrow, dear," and then silence.

Tomorrow. I was meeting them tomorrow.

I promise interesting things will happen soon! These are just kind of filler chapters. Also, I'm doing research on these things, but my knowledge on the subject won't be perfect, so I apologize for that. I love you guys :,) votes and comments are great ;)
