Chapter 1 – Farewell

10:32 a.m.
Dear Diary,
Today is our flight going to Japan (2:00 p.m.) and right now I’m still packing up the rest of my stuff. I just had to rest for awhile and I might just get back packing up. I sure do have a lot of old stuffs. Geez, I never thought that I THIS lot of stuff, it’s a good thing mom said that I could still keep my old stuffs that I don’t need for Japan in the attic. I sure will miss my baby brother, Gerald. He’s just only 4 years old and he won’t see us for who knows how long. Well, gotta go back packing, or else I’ll get an earful of shouting from Stew.
“Chloe! Are you done yet?” Chloe’s mom exclaimed from downstairs “Not yet mom! I’ll be done in a few minutes!” Chloe closed her diary shut and put it aside. “Oh okay! Just hurry! Someone’s here to see you!” Chloe then went to the window to see who it was and not to her surprise it was her best friends. Chloe grinned and ran downstairs, pass her Scottish Terrier “C’mon Zee!” Zee barked gleefully and followed Chloe to the front door.
Chloe Britzel had long blonde hair and has long bangs which mostly cover her left eye. She has azure eyes shining like sapphires. She was not tall nor short, she had the height of a normal kid for her age. She usually wears her hair into a high ponytail but still leaving her bangs down.
“Chloe!” a chocolate haired and blue eyed girl of Chloe’s age waved at her. Chloe then tearfully ran towards her “Mack!” Chloe hugged Mack who hugged her back. “Oh, Chloe! I’m going to miss you!” Mack cried while Chloe silently let her tears fall. “Yeah me too…” Chloe whispered.
A blonde haired and green eyed boy, with Zee beside him, chuckled at the dramatic crying of his friends.“And what about me Clo? You’re not gonna miss me?” Chloe let go of Mack who also let go her. Chloe wiped her eyes “Of course I will Luke” Chloe went over to Luke and hugged him “You guys are like the best friends that I ever had” Chloe said releasing Luke. Chloe’s mom, Caroline, sighed at the sight “Well, I’ll be leaving you kids” Chloe nodded in agreement and with that Caroline went back inside the house.
Caroline and Chloe had big resemblance, they both have blonde hair and shining azure eyes. Caroline was a bit tall for her age but it was just right. But unlike Chloe, she had short blonde hair and a clip on her left side to avoid her bangs on her face.
Chloe, Mack and Luke then sat on the front porch on the small stairs of the porch. “Well, have you even learned to speak Japanese?” Luke asked as he settled Zee on his lap. Chloe nodded “Yup, but just the basics, like good morning, hello, and such” Chloe said. “Then show us!” Mack requested which made Chloe chuckle “Oh okay. Well let’s see… Ohayou Gozaimasu, Good morning. Onamae wan nan desu ka, what is your name. Onamae wa Chloe-san desu, my name is Chloe. And uh… Ogenki desu ka, how are you, and the answer will be, genki desu, I’m fine” Chloe finished and looked over to her friends “Well?” Mack and Luke stared in awe at Chloe which made her sweat drop “Uh… guys?” Both Mack and Luke gave eyes of adoration “Awesome…” Mack mumbled but enough for Chloe to hear while Luke nodded and Zee just barked in agreement.
“Hey guys” Chloe’s elder brother, Patrick, greeted with his right hand up and the other inside his pocket. “Hi…” Mack and Luke greeted in unison. Patrick had chocolate brown hair and emerald eyes, he had his hair all messed up and a part was sided to the right side. “So… um… could I excuse Chloe now? She’s gotta finish packing up” Patrick said while rubbing a part behind the back of his neck. Chloe sighed and stood up “C’mon guys, let’s just continue upstairs” Chloe then ran to her room followed by Mack, Luke and Zee, who gleefully raced to Chloe’s room.
Patrick chuckled at the three until his phone rang and vibrated in his pocket. He immediately took out his phone and answered “Hello?” Patrick kept a smile on his face watching his neighbors while waiting for a response “Britzel, it’s me” a feminine voice came from the other line. Patrick’s smile faded once he heard the person on the other line “What is it you want now? I did everything you told me to do!” Patrick exclaimed but only enough for her and him to hear “Patrick, they’re coming. No time for arguments! I had already called a cab with Jason driving it. Get in it with your siblings and do not, I repeat, do not hesitate to inside this time. Do you understand?” Patrick stayed quiet for a moment as he looked behind him only to see Chloe and Zee running after both Luke and Mack “Okay” he confirmed and dropped the line.
“Mom!” Patrick called out as he entered the house to the kitchen. Caroline was then seen holding on her arms Gerald. “What is it Patrick?” Caroline asked. Patrick ruffled Gerald’s hair before looking at his mom seriously. “Mom, they’re coming” Caroline stared for a dew seconds at Patrick before calling out Chloe’s name. “Chloe!” Chloe then came down with Mack carrying Zee and a beat-up Luke. “What is it mom?” Chloe asked in irritation. Caroline giggled a bit and smiled at Chloe innocently “Honey, the flight has been rescheduled earlier so I suggest you finish packing” Chloe stared at her mom dumbfounded. “What?” Caroline kept her smile as she rocked Gerald back and forth “You heard me young lady” Chloe sighed in disbelief and ran upstairs followed by, again, Mack and Luke.
“Aren’t you gonna say something?” Mack asked as they entered Chloe’s room. Chloe shook her head ‘no’ “why?” Luke sat down on Chloe’s bed while rubbing his bruise on his cheek. “I can’t argue with her on the last day I’ll be able to see her” a tear ran over her cheek as she one by one put her clothes on her baggage. “Oh c’mon… I bet this isn’t your last day upon seeing her… right?” Chloe shrugged.
After a few minutes of chatting the cab came with a beep. “Chloe! You’re ride is here!” Chloe sighed and got up “Finally! After minutes of being in a pain of waiting!” Chuck’s voice echoed through the hall which made Chloe roll her eyes. Chuck then came to view at her door “Hey pipsqueak! Let’s go!” Chloe stuck out her tongue at him while gritted his teeth and went down. Chuck, on the other hand, had dirty blonde hair with emerald eyes. Chloe motioned for Mack and Luke to come as she stood up and left the room with them behind.
Once Chloe got out of the house she saw her mother crying saying some things to both of her siblings. She turned around to face her best friends “Well… this is goodbye” Chloe said to them. Both Mack and Luke nodded in agreement “Yeah…” Mack said and reached out to hug her best friend. Chloe then hugged back and Luke then joined the hugging which made them giggle while Zee barked behind them.
“Pipsqueak come on!” Chuck exclaimed. Chloe let go of her friends and ran towards Caroline “Bye mom” she pecked her in the cheek and ruffled Gerald’s hair making him giggle. “Bye… Chloe” Caroline looked at Chloe with loving eyes letting her know she loved her. Chloe nodded as if she knows she new what her mom was trying to say to her. She then entered the cab and Zee hopped on in last. “Don’t forget to put Zee in the dog cage, okay?” Chloe nodded and the cab then drove away.
Chloe watched her house go small the cab drove away until it disappeared by the trees. Patrick glanced at Chloe with a worried look and sighed and glanced forward ‘I’m sorry Chloe… but this is for your safety’ Patrick sighed again in disgrace. Patrick then looked at the cab driver, Jason, who he knew as one of his trusted agents.
After what seemed like hours, they arrived at the airport. The three siblings got off the cab while Jason got their bags out of the trunk of the cab. Zee barked as he saw many people entering the airport. Chloe smiled then led Zee to his dog cage. “Here you go little buddy” Chloe placed Zee inside the dog cage, which he seemed to be comfortable of, easily before locking the cage. “Okay Chloe let’s go” Patrick motioned his head towards the airport holding her bag for her. Chloe smiled and nodded and went inside with her siblings. “Have a safe trip sir!” Jason exclaimed while Patrick waved his hand goodbye.
“Flight to Tokyo, Japan will leave in five minutes” a voice of a lady echoed through the airport “C’mon… this way” Patrick said as Chuck and Chloe obediently followed him. And just in time they saw their plane “Hello, sirs and ma’am… you’re all just one time. Please this way” a stewardess then led them inside the plane. “There are your seats sirs and ma’am” she then bowed respectively and left them. Patrick then saw a lady beside an empty seat, which he seems to know. “Wohoo…” Chuck said as he saw the empty seat but before he could seat Patrick blocked his way “No, you seat with Chloe” Chuck groaned but didn’t complain. They all took their seats and just before then, Chloe’s cell phone rang.
Chloe took out her cell phone and saw a chat message… she smirked.
