I can't stop thinking about last night.  Derek called me "Mer".  I never told him that was my nickname.  Was he actually starting to remember things?  Or did he hear someone calling me that?  All these thoughts and questions swirl around in my head as Derek is still sound asleep.  While he's still sleeping I decide to take a shower before making breakfast.  I just love sleeping in instead of waking up early to go to work.  As soon as I heard about Derek, I called Cheif Hunt and told him about what happened and he agreed to let me take some time off of work since Wilson can take over in general as long as I bring Derek to the hospital for everyone to see.  I already took him there, but he didnt see anyone, I'm thinking of bringing him in today, although, I don't want him getting too overwhelmed.

After I shower I go downstairs to get breakfast.  "Good morning, Meredith!"  Derek says chirpily, just like the morning person he is.

"Good morning," I reply.  Derek opens the cabinet to look for a mug to put his freshley brewed coffee in.  He picks out a red mug, not just any red mug, but THE red mug.

"Wow, I don't know why, but as soon as a saw this mug I just felt sudden joy.  I love this mug!"  Derek says.

"You and that mug go way back," I reply. "The history that you and that mug share is a whole other love story."

"Well, it is such a loveable mug." Derek says back, staring at the mug.  "So, let's continue the story from last night!"

"Get in the car, we're going to the hospital, I'll tell you the story on the way."

"Okay boss, let's go!" Derek says with a laugh.  We get in the car and Derek already starts with the questions.

"So, tell me about this bomb in a body," Derek says.

"There's really not much to tell," I reply.  "Basically I stuck my hand in a body which had a bomb in it and put my life in danger.  At the time you were back with your wife, but I could tell you were scared of losing me for good."

"Why would you do something that dumb?"

"Well, there was this new paramedic who had her hand in there before she knew there was a bomb.  She got terrified that she was going to die so she pulled her hand out and as she did that,  I slid my hand into the body to stop the bomb from exploding.  Long story short, the bomb exploding and the guy from the bomb squad died, but I lived."

"Intense.  You almost could have died!  So, tell me.  Who's Mark Sloan?"  Derek asks.

"This is a good story, get ready.  So, you know how I told you that your wife cheated on you with your best friend?  Well, that so-called 'best friend' of yours was Mark Sloan.  So anyway, Mark Sloan works in plastics and was asked to come to Seattle to work on a special case.  Basically, you saw him trying to hit on me and you punched him.  At that moment I felt reassurance that you loved me because you saw him screwing your wife and all you did was walk away, but you see him talking to me once and you punch him hard," I reply.

"What a douche!  I don't have to see this guy today at the hospital right?"

"Unfortunately, no, you don't get to see him," I say as I try to hold back tears.

"How is that unfortunate?  And are you okay?" Derek asks as he holds my face in his hands.

"We're not at that part of the story, and I'm fine, thank you."

For the rest of the car ride, we sit in silence.  We then arrive at the hospital.
