This can’t be happening.

I refuse to admit that this is happening.

How the hell. We were gone for a weekend, how could they have possibly inflicted so much of damage.

All the furniture was turned upside down and the whole place was trashed.

But the thing that stood out the most was the words written on the wall.

Not necessarily what they said, but what they were written in.

Blood.

My brother’s blood to be exact.

We found you.

“BRENDAN!” I screeched desperately hoping that my senses were wrong at that wasn’t my brother’s blood.

“BRENDAN!” I screamed again tears pooling in my eyes.

“No. No, no, no, no no.” I muttered putting my hair at the top of my head.

“Alex?” Tyler’s worried voice said from behind me as he pulled me softly into his chest while I sobbed.

“It’s all my fucking fault!” I shoved him away.

“No it’s not. You couldn’t have seen this coming.” He shook his head.

“Actually I could.” I smiled sadly and shrugged. “I just forgot to check this week!” My thoughts are going back forth between anger and despair. Tyler tries again to comfort me and this time I take it. His hands running over my arms with my head into his broad chest and my arms around his waist while I try to steady my breathing.

“What are we going to do” I whisper, shaking my head “I was mean to protect him” I scream, fresh tears spilling over, being soaked up into Tyler’s shirt. “This wasn’t supposed to happen to him.” I broke away from him again and rubbed my hands down my face. “I SHOULD BE THE ONE THEY TOOK!” I yelled and threw a surprisingly untouched vase against the wall and watched it shatter.

“Al, calm down.”

“ARE YOU SERIOUSLY ASKING ME TO CALM DOWN WHEN MY BROTHER HAS BEEN TAKING BY THEM!?” I yelled the last word with so much venom Tyler even cringed back.

“Luna.” I girl from behind me softly spoke. I spun around to see that during my mental breakdown, every person in my pack who lived in the pack house were gathered around us. The little girl was shaking with tears down her face. I recognized her; she was a girl we found in the middle of a war. She escaped from her pack and was standing in the middle of the battlegrounds.

“I am so sorry Charlotte.” I whispered but I knew she could hear me because of our enhanced werewolf senses. She ran up to me and wrapped her arms around my legs and cried on me. I picked her up and held her in my arms. Brendan was always the closest person to her and she looked up to him like a brother. Her parents died in the war and we took her in because we obviously couldn’t leave a small child who was now an orphan in a battlefield.

“Where is Brendie, Luna?” She pulled away, her arms hung loosely around my neck, as she looked me in the eyes. Her usually brightly lit green eyes we’re filled with sadness and fear. I sobbed while looking at her face change from hurt to worry for her Luna. I shook my head and wiped away her tears.
