Prologue

He watched her intently, the girl he had been waiting for for so long. She was so close, he could just run up to her and wrap her in his arms.
"So she's finally arrived"
The voice shook Finn out of his trance.
"Yes, now go away, no one wants you here, Lief" Finn said glancing over his shoulder at the man behind him.
"Harsh words for a classmate" Lief said, sitting down next to him.
"You are intruding on our private time" Finn kept his voice firm, this time glaring at the current annoyance.
"She doesn't even know you exist yet and if she really knew about you, she'd hate you" Lief had replied with a harsh truth that Finn refused to accept.
"No she wouldn't" Finn could hear his voice retreating, he didn't want to be reminded of this, especially not now.
"Really? How do you think she's been raised? You know how everyone feels about your kind! And honestly, it's your own fault! Give up now Finnian!" Lief's words came like punches, hitting him in the gut.
"No" He whispered.
"Yes, Finnian! Now I don't like you but I am a kind person, give it up now! Before she hurts you without even trying to!" With these final words, he stood up, turned on his heel and walked away, Leaving Finn sitting there with a single red tear streak marking his face.
