"Woodland Cemetery (Ohio) is supposedly haunted by the spirits of Johnny Morehouse and his dog. Legend has it that Johnny fell into the Miami & Erie Canal. His faithful dog tried to pull him out, but it was too late - the little boy froze to death. After he was buried, Johnny's dog laid on his grave and wouldn't move. In time, the dog died of starvation and a broken heart. In 1861, a special stone was made with a statue of Johnny and his dog."
I lived in the Fairborn/Dayton area for several years before we moved and I've been to Johnny's grave, as well as Woodland in general, several times. People like to leave toys and dog treats at Johnny's grave :)
Woodland Cemetery is also where the Wright brothers+their other siblings and parents are buried, as well as the poet Paul Laurence Dunbar.
It's a pretty big place: they even have Lookout Point, which is the biggest hill in the cemetery (+Dayton in general, I think)
