It was a hot Texas day. The sun was like fire and the air was thick and dry. I was walking home from the store, which was a terrible idea in the first place, but I had to get some more chew for my dad. This corset was too tight and dress too heavy. I approached our mansion. My father was a very wealthy oil man, that's why we live in a huge house. It was just me, him, and my little sister Jenny. She's 10. I love them both. My mother just up and left one day. Some days I miss her, others I wish she was never a part of my life in the first place.

I'm 19 and not married. Yes it's uncommon it's just hard to find a suited in such a tiny town like Little Creek. Our house is big and white. A barn and coral stand in the back. I have my own horse. His name is Kinder. He could run the speed of lightning for hours. I would never need him to be that fast though.

I was walking up the steps when I knew something was wrong. It was obvious. The door was slightly ajar. I lifted up the front of my dress and walked up the stairs.
"Hello? Daddy? Jenny?" I spoke. I pushed open the door. Muddy boot prints tracked the fresh waxed floor. I followed them around the house. I walked to the kitchen where they stopped at the swinging door. I pushed it open slightly. Inside I saw my father on the floor. A 2 bullets in his stomach and 1 in his shoulder. I covered my mouth the stifle a sob. I wanted to get on the floor and hold him close but I remembered,
Jenny.
"Jenny! JENNY!" I screamed across the house. I pulled my skirt up, enabling my feet to move faster up the grand staircase. I slammed the door to her room open. She was sitting there, covered in blood with a gag rag In her mouth. I wailed. The only people I loved. Dead. By who? I didn't know. But I was going to find out, even if it killed me too.
