Creatures

We were creatures of black and white,
One struggling while the other takes flight.
Always running in the same circle
As our hearts encircle.

We were creatures of blazing fury,
Everything always going up in a flurry.
Always pushing each other away
But wishing they would stay.

We were creatures of diamond
Perfect and sublime and
It was hard to find
No matter how hard others tried.

We could be creatures of a golden sunrise,
Keeping the glow locked in our eyes.
When others would fall behind horizons
We would keep blaring like sirens.

We could be creatures of beauty
And have our souls burdened with death duty,

But we were creatures of black and white.
One always soured while the other struggled to take flight.
