I didn't bother answering, I just barrelled out the door. I eventually made my way to the lake. And there she was. Sitting cross legged, guitar in hand, humming gently to the chords she was playing. Her once warm brown eyes were now filled with worry and sadness but also relief.
Tears silently streamed down my cheeks through a weak smile.
'I know' I whispered, pulling her into my embrace. I wrapped my arms around her neck, burying my head in her soft hair. I squeezed her tightly, never wanting to let her go again.
'I'm so sorry Lo' I heard her whisper, wrapping her arms around my body 'I wanted to tell you, I wanted to tell you so fucking bad- but I couldn't because I'm in witness protection. But when I saw you show up you looked so beautiful and I just wanted to run into your arms and tell you how sorry-'
'Shut up' I whispered, looking into her now watery eyes 'just shut up' when the words left my mouth I didn't give her time to protest before I leant my head in and gently brushed my lips against hers, in such a gentle manner that it made my head spin. I moved my lips again but just enough to feel more of her hers. Camila brought her hands up to my neck, grabbing the sensitive hairs in her fist. Our lips moved in sync for a few minutes, just enjoying each other's presence, tasting each other after such a long time of being apart. Camila opened her eyes, looking at me through her eyelashes. She unexpectedly grabbed my hand and dragged me away from the lake.
'Where are we going?' I had to quicken my steps to keep up with her. Her hand was radiating a warmth through my body that I hadn't felt in a long time. Not even Emily could make me feel like this. We soon arrived at the barn, I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion when she started to unlock the door.
'Camz?'
She didn't answer and instead shoved me roughly inside. I stumbled but managed to regain my balance. I turned around and saw her climbing the ladder to the second floor of the barn where the hay was kept. Unsure of what else to do I gingerly climbed after her. When I hauled myself up I looked around but couldn't see Camila. There was hay scattered all around the wooden floor and a small window that was shining in rays of sun.
