Caitlin was at the club with the party. She was sitting in the booth by herself while her sister was dancing and drinking with her party of friends. Just one hour until her love would be back in front of her again. Although they wouldn't be able to be a couple in front of everyone, right now she just missed and needed his presence. Just one hour. Then twenty minutes for the plan to kick in then they could finally be together. But what was amazing was that in about twenty-four hours, they'll be free and they can be together, they'll run away together. Ironically, it reminded her of Romeo and Juliet. Hopefully, they wouldn't die. She quickly chased that thought away.
She grabbed her phone from her purse and her hand desperately danced around Barry's number. She wanted to call or text him but that would defeat the object of their secret relationship.
"Excuse me, miss," a young man greeted. "I was wondering whether you'd like to dance with me. You looked so lonely so..." Caitlin didn't know what to say. She couldn't really say she had a boyfriend because, again, that would defeat the object of their secret relationship. However, she didn't want this guy to get the wrong idea, besides who would he tell if she said she had a boyfriend.
"Oh, I kinda have a boyfriend. I'm part of the bachelorette party and I just kinda miss him," she respectfully declined truthfully.
"Okay, no worries," he smiled then walked away.
The minutes soon passed and as it came to the hour mark she kept on thinking: "Any minute now, any minute now,". Then she saw them walk in the club. She bit her lip with to stop herself from smiling when their eyes met.
"BABE! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?" Carrie slurred, obviously very drunk. She ran over to kiss him and he basically picked her up.
A mix of girls and guys sat in the booth so Caitlin was no longer alone, including Barry.
"Fancy seeing you here," he said to her. A phrase they were both familiar with.
After ten minutes, the second phase of their plan.
"I'm gonna go back and get an early night. Big day tomorrow," Caitlin announced standing up and walking out the club. As soon as she was far enough away she called for a taxi to pick them up. Ten minutes later, the taxi pulled up and just as it did barry walked out of the club. She gestured for him to hurry up and they got in the taxi together and exchanged a quick kiss as the taxi set off.
They kept their hands intertwined the whole journey and she kept her head laying on his shoulder. It was around midnight so she was very tired. She didn't usually do late nights.
When they returned to the hotel, they paid the driver then separated to pack their stuff. After she had finished packing, she sneakily wheeled her suitcase to his room so they could make their escape quickly tomorrow night. She left a spare outfit in his room so they would look more inconspicuous when running. Besides, a dress wouldn't be too comfortable.
She found herself staring out the window, looking at the pouring rain that they'd only just missed. Thinking about the life she's leaving behind. What life? All she had was her job. Besides, there were other labartories out there. Barry was the best thing that had ever happened to her and she promised herself that she would never let him go.
So lost in thought, she almost didn't notice two arms wrapping around her waist and someone kissing her head. She watched their reflection in the window and saw that they were made for each other. In contentment, she closed her eyes and sighed. This was the start of her new life. Their new life. Together...
