I woke up at 10:30. I still have 2 hours until I go pick up Luke from the airport. I walk out of my room and pass my moms room, the lights are out and the door is closed. I quietly open the door and she's asleep in bed. I stand there for a minute and think how lucky I am that she's still here. I have no idea how I would've survived without her. Sure, we may get into arguments quite often, but I could never live without her. I mean, she's all I have. Except Luke. Her husband is never around, he wasn't there for her surgery, he wasn't there when she was getting worse, he still isn't here. He's always working, or he's always doing his own thing. I haven't seen him in weeks. It's like he just disappeared. He hasn't even texted to see how she is.
After a few minutes, I close the door and walk downstairs. I look in the refrigerator and there's no food. I put on a sweater and grabbed my car keys. I walked outside and locked the door behind me, then going to my car. I turned the key and started it, backing out of the driveway and heading to get some pizza.
I got to the nearest pizza place and turned my car off and went inside. I looked over the menu and then walked up to the counter.
"Hi, what can I get you?" The girl asked me.
"I'll have one slice of cheese, one slice of pepperoni and one slice of hawaiian" I told her.
"Okay, that'll be 9.74" she said. I handed her the money and sat in a chair, waiting for my food. 5 minutes later she handed me my food. "Have a good night" she smiled.
"Thanks, you too" I smiled back. I walked back out to my car and started it, and then started eating my cheese pizza. It's now 10:59, I still have an hour and a half until I have to go to the airport. I finish my pizza and decide to go to the mall for a bit, since it's opened until 12:30.
I get to the mall about 7 minutes later. I turn off the car and get out, walking towards the mall doors. There's not many people here, considering its 11pm on a Sunday night. You might be thinking why is Luke going there if she still has school, the hobo's gotta graduate. But, I got my work for the next few days, I thought ahead, good job lilah.
I walk around the mall, stopping at a few stores and buying a few things. I didn't have much cash with me but I still have my credit card, I decide to be a good daughter and buy my mom something. I walk around trying to find a store to go in. Then I pass pandora and think why the hell not, and go inside, looking at the bracelets. The bracelets are like $150.00, but my mom deserves it. I find a normal chain, and a jewel that says "mom" on it and tell the lady I want it. The price comes to $167.50, but my mom is worth it. I smile at the lady and walk out. I walk to Victoria's Secret and look around, getting a few things. After I leave VS, I'm full of bags. It's now 12:02. I have a few messages from Luke asking if I was awake, I text back saying I'm on my way. But I stop at a store and get Luke something. I get him a few flannels and a grey shirt with black sleeves. I quickly go out to my car and put my bags in the back, hoping in the front and starting the car. The ride to the airport is 15 minutes, and when I get there it's already 12:30. I turn off the car and get out, walking into the airport and wait for him to come through the doors. After a few minutes I see him, and start running. When were decently close, he drops his bags and opens his arms, as I jump into them.
"I missed you so much, babygirl" he whispered into my hair.
"I missed you too" I whispered back. After we hug he puts me back down, grabbing his bags again. "I got you something" I smiled.
"Oh really? I got you something too" he chuckled.
"Lemme see, lemme see, lemme see" I say, excited.
"You're so adorable. Wait until we get into the car" he laughs softly.
"Fine" I frown. We got to the car and I open the back door for hints put his stuff in.
"Someone went shopping" he laughed, as he say the bags in the back.
"I had nothing better to do while I was waiting" I laughed. "But, we are going grocery shopping at target. There's no food at my house" I tell him as we get into the car.
"Sounds fun" he says sarcastically.
"Oh yeah, and I bought you a pizza" I smiled and handed him his pepperoni pizza.
"You are the best girlfriend a guy could ask for" he says seriously looking at me.
"I know" I giggle. I grab the bag from the backseat and hand it to him. "I got you this while I was shopping" I told him. He takes the bag and looks in it.
"Wow. I love them. Did I mention how great you are?" He asks, I laugh, shaking my head.
"So, what did you get me" I clap, excitedly. He laughs and finishes his pizza. He grabs one of his bags and pulls out a small, long, velvet box. He hands it to me. I open it and see the most beautiful diamond necklace. "It's beautiful" I say, staring at it.
"Not at beautiful as you" he says. "Here, let me put it on you" he smiled and takes it out of my hand. I turn a bit so he can put it on me, lifting my hair.
"Luke, I love it. Thank you" I smile and lean over to kiss him.
"You're welcome, Delilah" he smiles at me.
"Okay, lets go to target" I say and start the car, pulling out of the airport parking lot.
