I watched the rain as it started to fall around me. Really, I should have expected it. The grey clouds were already overhead when I left our shared house. The raindrops splattered around from where I was sitting under the sturdy oak tree in the park. The sadness in me matched the surrounding weather around me as I thought about what happened. Echoes of yells from the recent past rang in my head as I flinched from the memory that followed. I found myself imitating the rain as I let my sorrows out.
I kept wincing as flashbacks kept coming, barraging me with recent events. I didn't want to remember as the memory was too horrid in my mind for me to try. It was all my fault. I knew my past was a sensitive one, but I still held no right to snap back. Even if that was me. But at the same time, perhaps it was his fault. He always was a rambunctious one.
"England!" a yell came from afar, startling me out of my thoughts. I turned to see the one I was just thinking about, sprinting towards me.
"You're gonna catch a cold out here if you stay here for too long," he exclaimed. He looked up at the sky, the sky not matching his eyes for once. "C'mon, let's get you out of this rain."
But the rain was my only friend at the moment, and I wanted to be with it until it left me. Like my friends always do. They come and go. Never staying for long.
He nudged me to get me up, but I refused. He tried grabbing me to pull me up, but I wrenched myself out of his firm grasp. Protesting for him to let me stay with my only companion. He may plead all he wants, but pleading won't heal a broken heart.
So everything before the line of, "England!" a yell came from afar, startling me out of my thoughts, was written in ELA as a writing exercise
