My mouth hung open as I stared blankly at the doorway. A million questions ran across my mind. Why was he still there? Did he hear everything I said on the phone? Is my secret exposed? What did he mean by what he said? Christine is going to be in so much trouble if he tells someone about it! The last thought snapped me back to reality. I looked down at my timetable, it said I didn't have a class this period. I stood up quickly, making the chair spin on it's movable base, and sprinted towards the doorway. He couldn't have gone that far yet... could he?
I scanned the hallway for that head of black hair, but he was nowhere to be found. The students walking down the hall to their next class looked at me as if I'd lost it. Was I spaced out for longer than I thought? I groaned and skulked back into the classroom, I promised myself to catch him at lunch and if not, then tomorrow.
A bell rang, signalling lunch. I didn't even notice that I'd sat in the classroom, wrecking my brain for a excuse to get me out of this mess, for so long. I sighed, heading for the cafeteria. I could have eaten at the teacher's lounge, but what was the fun in that? Plus, I needed to find out the guy's name, then send some student to give him a note, telling him to come to my classroom to confront him about the phone call. Right, I was going to go with that plan. If all fails, I could always get down on my knees and beg... or not... I have too much pride to do that, especially to a guy like him!
I walked into the cafeteria and looked around, walking towards the lunch line. It was already half way through lunch, so most of the students had already bought their lunch and settled down at their tables. I looked around at the tables, and can already tell there were cliques. Every high school is the same. I sighed and asked the cafeteria lady for large fries and grabbed a can of Coke. She filled the large cardboard container with fries, squirting a generous amount of ketchup on it before handing it to me. I smiled and thanked her, then walked over to the cashier and handed her a five dollar bill. My eyes scanned over the cafeteria again and narrowed when I found a familiar, and very hot, shaggy black haired head. I didn't realize I was just standing there staring until the cashier said something.
“Keep the change.” I said, waving my hand dismissively at the coins in her hand.
She shrugged and dropped them into the machine and called on the next student in line. I strolled over to a girl who was whispering to her friend nearby. She wasn't in any of my classes, so I thought it was safe to ask her.
“Hey.” I said, smiling weakly at the girl.
I wasn't much of a social butterfly, but in this situation it really didn't matter. The girl looked over and furrowed her brows, but then smiled when she was completely turned around.
“Hi! ... Can I help you?” She asked, cocking her head to the side.
“Uh... Yeah. Do you see that guy over there?” I said, pointing in the direction of the mysterious stranger.
Her widened as she nodded eagerly. She had a dreamy look in her eye that was kind of creeping me out. I looked back in the direction of the guy who's name is still unknown. I took in a sharp intake of breath when I realized he was staring straight at me. His gaze was intense as his deep blue eyes bore into my, although my vision was quite bad, I had glasses, I was pretty sure he was looking this way. I wrenched my eyes away from his and looked back to the girl in front of me and waved a hand in her face.
“Oh right, that's Seth, Seth Jaspers.” She snapped back to reality, but back into dream island right after saying his name.
“Well, thanks.” I said, rolling my eyes, knowing that she didn't hear me.
