Since it was Christmas, my piano class had a special Christmas recital. I had to play Carol of the Bells, which was pretty easy in my opinion. I hate to brag (not really) but I'm the best in the class. If you say I suck, then that means my classmates suck even more. (JK) but anyways, I was in the front, and surprisingly, I have stage fright. Stage. Fright. It's not normal for someone with my personality to have stage fright, but I do. This is only my third recital, because my teacher said that before I wasn't that great, but I've improved! And now I'm on a stage with my classmates, two boys, two girls. Not including me. I was in front of them all, and it was scary. I heard Karin's cheers from the background, but I didn't really want any attention right now.
Now the cheers were getting annoying. I mean, yeah, having your girlfriend cheer for you is a good thing, but not when she screams at the top of her lungs "I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT, BECAUSE YOU'RE MY LOVABLE DORK!" And "YOU MAY BE THE MOST ANNOYING KID ON EARTH, BUT I'M ROOTING FOR YOU!" Honestly. Embarrassing... But anyways, somewhere next to Karin, I saw Madison's hand form a "thumbs up" sign. Everyone was staring at Karin, because she was so loud, the window actually shattered. And her voice has this high pitch, so that adds to the damage. Hopefully I can pay it off with my beautiful piano skills.
Carol of the Bells was actually pretty easy, but now I have to play Frosty the Snowman while my friends play Jingle Bells. Who has the easier part? Them! Well, I guess that means that I'm better? Frosty, you are really not doing any favors. Sure, I've been working my butt off trying to practice, but my annoying older brother (Tyler of course) loves bugging me. I can't even play for five seconds without being interrupted. My little brother doesn't do much better, but he doesn't like to distract me. He just loves to play his sax. Yeah, our family is musical. My older brother likes playing the guitar, but let's just say one time, the neighbors ran out of their house screaming because they thought an earthquake was coming. They sued us, but eh. My parents like singing, and they were famous in the music world for it. But again, eh.
Frosty turned out better than I expected. They screwed up on JINGLE BELLS, I mean, come on. The crowd was cheering, and Karin was screaming. And squealing. And whatever you call that dance. I stood up and bowed. Feeling good, I stepped off the stage and walked up to my parents. They hugged me, it was humiliating, and they gave me a bouquet. Then Karin ran to me, toppled me over, and hugged me.
"YOU DID GREAT!!!" Madison had to separate us, but it took sometime. It might as well have been the happiest day of my life. Well, almost.
A week later....
"It's alright Karin, you just lost your voice." The doctor said. After my piano recital, Karin couldn't speak anymore. Literally. She had a sore throat, and she lost her voice. She was so devastated, and I stuck my tongue out.
"That's why you don't keep screaming."
Well, that was a bonus chapter, if the entire plot of the story was completely avoided. Poor Karin. And Carol of the Bells is pretty easy to play on piano, my friend would know about that.
