I wiggled where I sat as nobody said anything for a few minutes.
Fran sent Caleb a slight tilt of her head before he continued to answer my question.
"Our powers don't develop until we turn thirteen years old and everyone excels at different things" Caleb smiled reassuringly with a hint of smugness.
I laid my palms on my thighs and listened carefully to what he was telling me.
"We can heal people, that's why you feel ok now. You had a broken arm that Fran fixed for you and when you passed out I healed your shattered cheek bone and crushed windpipe and other cuts and bruises".
My eyes grew wide.
"Caleb is the most powerful out of all of us" Sal said blowing up Caleb's ego, which really didn't need any help otherwise it would need its own post code.
"He is nearly more powerful than our Dad"."I have never seen your Dad" I told them frowning, to be honest I never even thought about where he was.
"Dad works away, we hardly ever see him".
I felt as if this was a touchy subject and one that none of them wanted to continue on the subject so instead I asked
"Can you all conjure up fire?".
Caleb smirked but Fran replied
"Yes we can all conjure fire balls but Caleb can make the flames bigger and make orbs the size of his gigantic boasting head".
"It's because I am that awesome sis. Don't be a hater"
"What ever Caleb" Fran sighed and shook her head in defeat.
"Show me" I demanded Caleb and shifted my body towards him, our knees brushing with the movement.
He eyed me for a short moment and then lifted his palm in between us and orange flames arose from his fingertips, he lifted a second hand and transferred the bright flames into his waiting palm.
I had the urge to reach out and touch it but I could feel the warmth from it stroking my cheeks. My gaze darted to Caleb's, the globe reflected in his green leer.
He passed the fire ball back and forth from one hand to the other as if it was a football.
"That is amazing" I breathed
" Doesn't it burn you?"
"No, it's part of who we are" Fran explained leaning her chin on her fist.
Caleb smiled sweetly and softly blew the flames until they slowly fizzled out.
"Wow" My jaw seemed to be permanently unhooked this evening.
"We can move objects without touching them" Fran demonstrated.
Raising her right hand at my disregarded glass of water and it began floating up from the table and hovered air borne in front of my face before slowly lowering back to the coffee table.
Lord Ol mighty.
"Your taking this all in your own stride" Sal stated draping his forearms across his bent knees and staring at me.
"Me and Caleb told you she would" Fran smiled smugly.
Why am I not freaking out?
Can they control my mind? or control my emotions?
"Can you brain wash people?" I asked dumbly and all three of them laughed at my question.
I didn't think this was very funny.
"No we can't control what you think or anything about a person".
Hmm.
Then maybe I will have a breakdown later on when I replay all this before I go to sleep.
"When our abilities grow some of us can fly"
Caleb sounded like he was gloating and I didn't know if I should laugh or not.
"Yes we all know you have just mastered that talent" Fran grumbled and rolled her eyes.
"You can fly?" I asked Caleb and received a ear to ear grin.
I take that as a yes.
"I will show you another time" Caleb told me.
Before my mind could process that titbit of information Fran broke in
"We also have super speed".
A vision of Caleb catching my keys in mid air earlier and how fast he got up in my space the first time we met.
To prove that what I saw was real Fran stood from her spot on the coffee table and before I could blink she was a blur and out of the door.
It made me think of water dropping onto a painting and smudging it.
Fran then reappeared solid once again outside the living room window waving and shouting "See!" then suddenly blurring again and returning back beside me.
"Holy crap on a cracker" I gasped
"Is this why people are also so nervous around you guys? because of your gifts".
"We don't tell humans what we can do. Only god knows what they think we are. I think I am winning the girls over at college though, which is massive thanks to you" Fran sang gleaming happily.
"They would have to come to like you without my help Fran. They just needed to get to know you a little".
"They can't get to know you too well remember Fran? You can't reveal our secret to every Tom, Dick or Harry you know" Sal moaned.
"I know that".
My eyes flicked between the three of them once again as the thought hit me
"If you don't tell people about your powers then why did you all trust me with the truth?" I wondered.
Obviously they are all trusting me to keep this a secret from everyone as well.
"How do you all know that the moment I step out of this house I wont go running my mouth?"
"We trust you Kat" Fran smiled.
"I have to admit I am still on the fence, but I am willing to put my faith in you too" Sal told me as he stood and headed out of the living room.
Fran's mobile rang in her pocket and she grabbed it before answering it
"Hi Dad" she stood and covered the mouth piece and spoke to me
"Are you sure you are ok?"
I nodded mutely.
"I will talk to you tomorrow, after you have had a chance to rest" she said and left the room.
I felt exhausted after the last few hours advents and my brain felt as if it was going to explode from all the information that has been thrown into it.
"You look shattered, I will walk you home" Caleb told me raising from his position.
I followed him out the door and cross the cold street to my porch, I felt in my pocket for my keys.
"Oh no I lost my keys down the drain earlier" I mumbled.
"I will get them and give them to you in the morning and we can talk some more" Caleb supplied while he walked up to my front door held his hand over the lock and I heard it click and open.
"I don't want to overload you"
Really?
"Good night" Caleb said softy I was gob smacked again as he just turned away and went back to his house, like they hadn't just dropped a mad bomb on me
Did that all just happen?
Yes it did.
