Outside my room, the building was slightly more eerie and less welcoming, however it was still somehow comforting. The walls were lined with torches that cast a yellow light over walls covered with frost-blue paint. The roof was made of crystal and held up with thin, curved silver metal pillars, and the floor was coated with a darker blue shag rug. There was nothing on the walls, aside from the blue paint.
As we walked through the long, empty halls of the huge, castle-like building, Jack explained the best he could.
"So, Evangelie-"
"I go by Evan." I didn't stop to wonder why or how Jack knew my name.
"Sorry, Evan. This place is located in the north of Canada, on Ellesmere Island. It's one of the most northern places on Earth." He turned left. "As I already said, it's called the Winter House. My family lives here-my mom, dad, our pets and me." He started walking up a flight of stairs. "And maybe you, if you, um, stay. Um, yeah, it's complicated. Um... But anyways, we're here!" he said hurriedly, as we turned right into a huge, intimidating room with the massive blue-painted doors wide open.
It had clear crystal ceilings ribbed with metal that vaulted to the steely grey skies. The walls were slightly domed and painted with light frosty blue paint. They were lined with the same metal bands that held the roof up. Looking down, I noticed that they ran through the floor as well, as the floor was made of clear glass that revealed anything underneath. It seemed to be empty, but was painted with the same blue as the walls.
I turned my attention to the decoration in the room. There was a long dark blue carpet on the floor that led up to the center of the room. And in the center of the room there was two thrones.
They were equally beside each other, with no one taking the spotlight. They looked to be cut out of pale blue-tinted ice, swirled with frost and carvings of snowflakes. And on those thrones were two people with winter in their eyes.
