The rest of the day was quite uneventful. David spent most of his time with his cousins James, Eli and Tommy at the family house. Cousins, Camille, Devine and Teresa where at the other side of the family ranch. Today they were going to teach the little girls from the tribe how to ride horses. Louis and Sammy where still at work. By evening he went home to mom and Louisa. The next day was Saturday so mom allowed Louisa to stay up late with David. They watched many episodes of empires until almost dawn. They soon slept off.

David Whitefang awoke the next day. The thoughts of him and Destiny fishing at the great Heruan lake crowded his thoughts as he did some chores. He had to fix the ceiling that had been leaking. He also went into the woods to get some wood for the fire place. It was already past noon when he finished up on his chores.

He called Destiny Chief to inquire if she was done with chores and set for their fishing trip. She had been home through out the morning. Had already finished up with her chores and was in a way, eagerly awaiting his call. She tried as much as possible to sound calm and composed. She could not risk sounding too excited and uncool like she had been waiting for his call. He could come over she was all set. She told him she did not have any fishing gear so she would only watch. He wondered how it was possible for someone to have a lake so close and yet never fish.
He attached his father's boat to Eli's pick-up truck which Eli had given him for the day. He got his own fishing gear, took his dad's for her and left for her home in the pick-up truck.
He went over to her house and waited in his truck. Mrs Danachiroc kissed her daughter good bye and told them to be safe as they drove off.

As they drove towards the lake David teased about her not being able to fish even though she had  lived right in front of a lake all her life. It was not necessarily her fault. Her dad did not find it neccessary to teach her such skills. He spent most of his time these days with Tano, her younger brother. She herself was preoccupied with other things.
They did not talk much after this. She was quiet and he had nothing to say. They drove for a few miles and soon they where at the lake. He got his boat detached from the truck and into the river while she held their fishing gear, you could tell she was excited to learn to fish for the first time. He helped her into the boat and they paddled away into the fishing zone.

He  lectured her as he prepared the bait and attached it to their hooks. He explained to her everything she needed to know about attaching the bait to the hook on the fishing line. He swung his fishing rod into the river. Now it was her turn, she swung hers into the river but she did it wrongly. The hook and line ended up stuck and entangled in his shirt. They both laughed to her not so perfect swing. He held her arms this time as he taught her how to swing her fishing rod properly. He was actually good at this, she thought.
They had a good time together. He did most of the talking while she did most of the asking. She asked him a ton of questions and listened attentively as he told her his funny childhood stories. She was a good listener and she found him quite entertaining. At the end of the day they had done more talking and less fishing. They had been able to catch just few fishes.
His big catch compared to the tiny creature she had managed to acquire made hers look pathetic and ridiculous.

Well she was happy and proud in herself. The fact she was able to catch anything at all made her feel quite remarkable.
She help him pack up the fishing gear and load them unto the truck. He got the fishing boat anchored to the truck and the set off for home.
As he drove, her mind drifted, it felt certain to her now. She had begin to fall for this guy, she finally admitted to herself, she was in love with him. She felt a lot closer to him now after their little fishing expedition but she dared not tell him. She understood him more now. The way he told her his stories made her feel like she had known him all her life. She did not know what to do with her feelings. It was not sensible to fall for a Whitefang, but she liked this funny, intelligent and good looking fisherman. She thought to herself. She was grateful he had taught her the rudiments of fishing. It was a fun experience.
