Disney Hunger Games

Chapter 9

In the opening ceremony, the tributes from each kingdom ride into the castle gates on horseback. We ride in and the president introduces us. We also have a giant feast after the ceremony for the tributes and some of the villains.

"Ready?" Anna asked as she played with my collar.

"Will you please stop trying to pretend everything is gonna be okay?" I asked her.

"I am betting on you, fish boy...Ariel or not..." She hissed as she stepped back.

"Eric!" Grimm exclaimed, "this is your horse, Flounder!" He pulled over a yellow haired horse with a long black mane. I pet his nose.

"Get in formation, please," Grimm whispered to me. Anna smiled and gave me a kiss on the cheek.

"Eric," Ariel said as she rode up on a black horse, "this is squid." She pet the horse's mane. I smiled as I mounted Flounder.

"You know I love you right?" I said as I looked at her.

"Yes, I know," she laughed as she took my hand.

There was a man counting down from 10, notifying the first kingdom to ride in the gates. The crowd erupted with laughter and screams. One by one they sent us in. It was now out turn. We rode out onto the dusty trails marked for us.

"Eric!!!!" some people cheered. I smiled and waved. I looked over at Ariel whose eyes were wide, like a deer in the headlights.

"Ariel," I whispered while still trying to smile, "Remember, look happy!" She shook her head and faked a smile.

As we pulled out horses into formation, I got to take a good look at the other tributes. I saw kingdoms 1 and 2, they were death staring at everyone. Kingdom 3 looked at me and nodded their head.

"Welcome!" President Radcliffe exclaimed, "Aren't out tributes lovely this year? Haha, well on with the games!" The crowd erupted.

"The feast this year will give a hint to as what your arena will be like this year...warning, do not be fooled by the ice sculpture!" He laughed a hardy laugh. I looked at Ariel who was looking to her left...Kingdom 5. The boy, Hercules was sitting high on his horse, looking at Ariel. He snickered to himself.

"Happy Hunger Games!" Radcliffe said as he dismissed us.
