The atmosphere in the club is like always overwhelming. The music booms from big boxes, which seem to be everywhere.

Meredith and I are talking about her new football team, and how much fun it is. There'll be a match soon.

I scan the room for the others. Josh and Rashmi are making out in a corner and Anna is nowhere to be found. Mer's still talking but I begin to drift away.

"You guys will come to the match, won't you?" Mer asks.

"Why should we? It's not like one of my closest friends would play there." I tease her.

Even if I make jokes like that often, Meredith's face drops, as if she considers that I really mean it.

"Mer, it was a joke." I say.

"Of course it was." She says, then laughs a bit too much, tosses her hair back and touches my arm. It's like talking to Amanda Spitterton-Watts. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind Meredith touching my arm or something like that, but the way she laughs too much at my jokes, she--

My thoughts get cut off, by Anna shouting right in my face. "Hey." Her breath smells like alcohol.

"Jeez, Anna. Are you okay? How much have you had to drink?" Meredith asks, but not in her usual worried tone, she says it with a slight bitter undertone.

Anna only waves her hand. Uh oh.

"Dance with me." She just turns away from Meredith. I'm surprised, but I hand Mer my beer. Anna grabs my hand and pulls me with her on the floor.

Then the song changes into something rowdier. Anna lets the rythm take her over. I watch her as she does so. I find the rythm and we move together. The whole vibe is elecrifying. The room spins around us. Her hair is sweaty. My hair is sweaty. She grabs me closer and I don't protest. Then she does something, I would've never thought she would. She writhes down my body to the beat. I feel my inside warm up and my skin tingles everywhere she touched me. I close my eyes. We match each other thrust to thrust. The band launches into a new song. Louder and louder. The crowd is in a frenzy. I scream the chorus with the rest of them.

We dance until we can't dance any longer. Until we're gasping for breath and our clothes are soaked and we can hardly stand up. I lead her to the bar and then we fall on the bar stools. We're laughing. Anna's even beginning to cry.

That's when a girl from behind me shout some really unnice things at us in French. I turn around to tell that person to bugger off, but my eyes widen in realization when I see who the girl is.

She keeps on insulting me, that I am betraying Ellen and that I am such a bad person. I keep defending myself and then she spins away and pulls her way through the pulsing mass.

"What was that about?" Anna asks.

"Shite. Shite." I curse.

"Who was that? What happened?"

I pat my pockets for my phone, but I can't find it. "Fuck. Where's my phone?"

Anna fumbles in her purse and pulls out hers. "USE MINE!" She shouts.

I shake my head in panic. "I can't use yours. She'll know. She'll fucking know." I pull at my hair, and then make my way to the door. Anna follows e and together we burst through the club into the cold night.

I am still frantically searching for my phone, while Anna is trying to catch some snowflakes with her tong-- Wait. SNOWFLAKES? Okay, stop it, Étienne. I tell myself. You got to find your phone. If it wouldn't be under these circumstances I would've tried catching them with Anna.
