Leah's POVI woke up the with a high fever and tears in my heart.
I had a nightmare about him.
He's been gone from my life but he keeps coming back one way or another.
I tried to get up, but this pounding headache forced me to lay back in bed. I had a really bad sore throat which gave me this cough.
I picked my phone and texted Ryder, who's probably sitting in kitchen waiting for my lazy ass.
>>me; hey, I don't feel so good, I don't think I'll be able to go to school, today.
<<Ryder the Broski😈; okay, sis. I'll leave the medicine at your bedside and I'll let dad know you're not feeling well.
>>me; thanks, love you <3
<<Ryder the Broski😈; love you more <3
I smiled and put my phone on the nightstand. Few minutes later Ryder came into my room and put some medicine on my nightstand with Tylenol, a cough syrup, a teaspoon and a glass of water.
"Take care," he said, before leaving. "I'll let Ryan know, you're sick."
I suddenly got up. "No!"I said, instantly regretting that I got up.
"No?" He said, curious. "Is everything okay?" He was concerned about me but the last thing I wanted was Ryder beating up Ryan's ass.
"Me and him had a fight," I whispered, lowering my head.
Ryder face went calm to anger. "Is he the fucking reason your like this?" He flared in anger.
"No, Ryder," I said, as I laid back down. "It's this stupid changing weather."
"Sure," Ryder said. He wasn't convinced with the answer but bought it.
"Seriously Ryder," I said, as I smiled at him. "Now if you don't leave the house, you're going to be late."
"And I have a valid reason to be late," he said, as smiled back. "You're my sister. If I don't take care of you, who will?"
"Dad," I said in my oh so obvious voice. He laughed at me and shook his head.
"For once, let me take the credit for shit," he said, smiling and rolling his eyes.
I sarcastically whined. "Okay" I stayed quiet for a while. "So... you and Sara, huh."
He chuckled. "Nothing goes by you, does it?" He asked, shaking his head.
I Laughed. "Nope," I said, popping the 'p'. "So, what happened?"
"I asked her out," he said, hesitating. "We are going on a date tomorrow."
"Aww, you're too cute," I gushed, raising my hand to ruffle his hair.
"Stop it," he chuckled, pushing my hand away.
I laughed at his cheeks turning pink. "Awww, my big brother is blushing," I said, giggling.
"Hush," he said, pointing at me. Then he got up, "I'm going to go now, before you embarrass me anymore." He started to walk out the room.
I laughed, shaking my head. "Love you, dumbo!" I called, before he left my room.
He chuckled and me while going out the door. "Love you, weirdo," he said, as he closed my door, leaving me in silence.
I took the medicine and drifted back to sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I woke up with Sara bursting through into my room. "Awwww, My baby is sick!" She said as she jumped on top of me.
I laughed at her reaction. "Sara, I'm fine," I groaned, as I moved her to sit up.
She looked at my face. "You sure as hell don't look fine," she said, stifling her laugh at the sight of me.
I didn't look that bad... I hope.
My headache was gone and my cough had simmered down.
Sara got up and closed the door and made sure the window and curtains were closed. "Okay, talk to me," she said, stilling down on the empty side of the bed. This is why I loved her because she knew me so well. She knows exactly when I'm sick physically and when I'm emotionally sick.
I took a deep breath and told her everything that happened with Ryan.
I told her everything and she stayed quiet with her lips pressed together in a thin line. "And the worst thing, he reminded me of him," I said, emphasizing on 'him'.
Sara took my hands in hers. "Leah, he's been gone from your life for almost two years," she said, sympathetically. "You deserve to be happy."
I lowered my head. I didn't know what else to say.
Him. 'Him' has a name.
And his name was Neil Cabello.
The notorious playboy.
Neil was handsome and brooding. He can get any girl he wanted. He was drop dead gorgeous. I was a freshmen in high school. Or what they say, fresh meat. He was my first boyfriend. He was a senior at the time. He would party everyday and hook up with one girl after another. He was the popular brood and I was the lowly nerd. I was a nobody. He had no reason to approach me.
-flashback-
I was new in school and I didn't know anyone besides Sara and Ryder. That day Nicole was picking on me because she was an inconsiderate bitch and she didn't like me.
Sara wasn't admitted into the schools systems yet because she was visiting Pakistan with her sister. Ryder was always busy with his JV football.
I walked down the halls of this new and uncomfortable environment. I opened my locker and put textbooks in there.
All of the sudden, my locker was slammed shut in front me and there was Nicole and her cronies there.
"Hey look!" She said loudly, sneering at me. "It's the nerd." Her minions laughed along with her. I could feel my cheeks heat up in embarrassment.
"Can I help you?" I said, trying to hurry up. I didn't know what was her problem.
She stopped laughing and her face turned into disgust. "Yeah," she said, scowling at me. "If you can just get off the face of the earth, that would be great help to me."
