"I'm sorry Mr Malik but I can't give you confidential information." said the Doctor, it was a different one since Lexi's first pregnancy.

"I'm her husband, I think I have every right to know the health of Lexi and our baby."

"Husband?..." She furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "Lexi never mentioned having a partner."

I raised an eyebrow "Really?" I sad pausing, why would she do that? So now does she walks around without her ring and pretend she was single? I felt hurt but then again I deserved this sort of stuff, my behaviour hasn't been the best so why would she publicly announce our marriage. "Well, I can bring our marriage certificate and prove to you."

"That won't be necessary." The doctor said opening Lexi's file. I glanced and saw a picture of the fetus, the same one Lexi had given me. "The baby's doing fine, we've measure the nuchal fold and the baby is completely healthy. At this stage I'm just a little bit concerned that this won't remain the same..."

"What do you mean?" I asked moving closer and eager to know exactly what was wrong with the baby's and Lexi's health.

"Its just that the last time I saw her she was under a lot of stress and I don't know if it has to do with work or family but it isn't helping with the position and physical development of her baby." the doctor said. "Has Lexi mentioned any signs of movement from the baby?"

I paused, well she never mentions anything about the baby to me. She stays cooped up in her office and whenever she's around me she wears the baggiest clothes. I seriously felt like a horrible father and husband, I didn't know what was going on with my wife or baby.

"Well, Lexi's hitting 6 months and by now the baby should be making some signs of movement." The doctor said closing the file "Your wife's coming in next week and I'd really like it if you came, at least then she'd realise the safety and health of her baby."

I nodded, I didn't really think I'd be that much of help but it was worth a shot.

By the time I made it back home Lexi was making dinner, I realised then that Jessica and the others were joining us for dinner and I couldn't help but cringe. I really didn't want to deal with clingy Jessica and I didn't want Jessica's attitude towards me to stress Lexi out. I don't think Lexi knew how many times Jessica had hit on me and if Lexi found out wouldn't she would stress about the status of our marriage.

"There you are." Lexi said chopping the capsicums "I thought you'd bail on me."

"No of course not." I said walking closer. From here she didn't really look that stressed out, she looked like normal Lexi, but who knew exactly what was going on in her head. She could think of a thousands things at a time. I wanted her to relax but I didn't know how. "Anything I can help with?" I asked my hands moving up to place it on her shoulders.

I moved my fingers kneading them into her skin and I could tell that Lexi had relaxed from her tense position. She let out a wavered breath and almost melted into me. "If you think I'm going to give you sex then boi are you wrong..." she said trailing off.

"Can't a guy just massage his wife's shoulders without getting something in return?" I asked, she remained quiet but I knew she didn't believe me and she wanted to know what was exactly going on. "So...I went to the doctors today, to see how you and the baby are doing."

She turned around to look at me "Why would you do that?"

I frowned "I'm the father, I think I have every right to know how my baby and its mother's doing."

"Well, we are doing fine."

"Not exactly." I said picking up the knife and beginning to cut up the capsicum "She said that you were stressed out and it was affecting the health and physical movement of the baby." I sliced through the capsicum and glanced over at her. She was staring down at the kitchen bench and she remained quiet so I spoke up "If it has something to do with work...or us, just let me know so that I can try and do something."
