Valkyrie caught up to Tanith as soon as she'd glimpsed her hurrying away down the opposite corridor.

"Hey, Tan! Wait up." She called.

"Hey Val, where're you off to?" The blonde asked.

"Nowhere. Just coming back from the medical wing. I went to check up on Thrasher. He's still hallucinating about having a pet dragon made of ice-cream and every time he breathes fire he starts melting. Whatever Vivi put in those cookies was Vile." Valkyrie replied.

"Oh, is Scapegrace still there?" Tanith asked.

"Yeah. So is Clarabelle, and Ping too. You know, the really-old Chinese man in the silk bathrobe who claims it was given to him by his Karate master? It seems he's still in love with Scapegrace. It's weird." She laughed. She'd missed talking to Tanith.

"Yeah, totally creepy. So, Ellion told me you and Alice are okay now."

"Yeah, we're more than okay. Everything's great. I'm back with Fletcher and I'm happy." Valkyrie's grin dropped at Tanith's frown.

"But I thought you and Dexter were a thing?" she whispered. "Oh no, Val. Don't tell me this is a Caelan repeat."

"It's not. Dexter and I were a fantasy. It was never going to happen. But me and Fletcher, we're great together." Valkyrie insisted.

"Are you really? Or do you think you're great together because he makes you feel happy as a normal couple? Maybe you'd be good with him if you're lives were mortals' lives, but not like this." Tanith advised.

"Woah, you and Ellion said the exact same thing." Valkyrie shook her head and ignored the thought. "Speaking of Ellion, he and Alice have been getting pretty close. Maybe someday we'll be related by marriage." Valkyrie joked.

Tanith knew she was changing the subject and if it were any other time or place she'd have told Valkyrie so. But she wanted to get this conversation over as quickly as possible. "Yeah, maybe. That'd be crazy. Anyways, I have to get going. I'll see you...uh, some other time." Tanith gave Valkyrie a weak smile and walked off.

"Oh, uh, okay. See you," Valkyrie called out after her best friend and then whispered, "I guess."

In that second Valkyrie made the decision to follow Tanith. She'd been disappearing a lot lately and no one knew where she'd been going. It was about time that changed. Valkyrie hated to think the worst of her friend and assume there was a possibility that Tanith was working for the enemy but the memory of Ravel, Anton, and Ghastly came to her mind and she went after Tanith.
