~Flashback of Aspen~
I continued to ride my bike down McDonald street and to the intersection. I waited for the cars to go and I quickly rode through. Eventually I end up going down a bumpy hill that leads to a farm house. This is Jasper's house, he's one of my best friends. I put my bike down on the grass and walked down the pathway to the farm house. In the horizon I saw him re-painting the barn again. His family was crazy about keeping that barn up to date. I snuck up to him quietly with his back turned to me and scared him. "Boo"! He stumbled backwards and tripped over the red paint can, thus ending up looking like a red tomato. "Aw gosh you really got me good Aspen. Where did you even come from? You scared the daylights out of me". He got up and tried to salvage any paint that was left. "I locked up the library for the day because Luke is out of town and I was super bored. Why are you painting the barn again"? Jasper rolled his eyes and sighed. "Mom and dad are complaining that the farm isn't good enough or isn't what it used to be so they are making the kids work double time. It's super exhausting.. that's why you're not seeing me as much". Aspen looked at him and thought for a few moments with silence between them. "Why don't I help you finish the barn? Luke takes forever to get home anyways and it seems like you could use some help. Besides we are hanging out AND working at the same time". He smiled and nodded his head in agreement. Aspen picked up a paint roller and started to help him finish the barn.
~Time Skip~
"Oh boy I didn't realize what time it was, I better get home Jasper. I hope your parents are satisfied with the barn". He got up and brushed the dirt off of him. "Aw okay. Thank you for helping me, I really appreciate it. Don't be afraid to come down and visit more often alright"? He gave her a big hug before she ran down the path, grabbed her bike, and started off home. The whole way home she felt something was wrong ,but she shook it off every time it entered her mind. When she got home she plopped the bike onto the front lawn and went inside. It was not too long after she got inside that she heard something crawl around. She went to turn the lights on but they wouldn't turn on so she went to grab a candle instead. Up and down the isles of the bookstore, Aspen looked for that unsettling noise.. until she saw something. A hideous beast with sharp teeth and a large gaping mouth (picture above). The beast noticed she was standing there looking at him. She dropped the candle and it went out instantly. "AHHHHHHH"!!! Aspen started to run upstairs and it charged after her, destroying everything in its wake. Finally reaching the final step, she slammed the door shut and locked it. After looking around realizing there was no quick place to hide, she threw herself behind the couch. The beast broke open the door with such force, pieces went flying everywhere. There was no escape and this beast was not happy to be here. Eventually, he ended up finding Aspen. She started to scoot back in front of the kitchen counter. He stabbed her with one of his stingers and she let out a harsh scream. Afterwards, the beast destroyed the house trying to get out. The poor girl sat there bleeding out.. hoping for Luke to return home soon.
~Back to the Present~
Luke's P.O.V.: I quickly picked Aspen up and laid her down gently on the couch. Lifting her shirt up to find the entrance wound, I realize the stinger practically punctured her stomach almost all the way through. "Shit". I mumble and run to the bathroom's medicine cabinet. I grabbed various potions stashed and some bandages. On my way back to her, I trip over broken glassware and furniture, thus breaking some of the important potions. "Are you kidding me right now"?!? Gathering what remained I ran back to her. Once back to the couch I watched as the warlock and vampire abilities tried to heal the wound on its own. To no avail it wasn't working. Hastily, I poured what remained of the potions on to her wound. She woke up instant and screamed. Holding her down while putting the bandages around her was not fun. As the bandages kept being wrapped, Aspen got more angry and violent. Her eyes turned a shade of red and her pupils were slit, like a cats eye. She threw me off of her and before I could catch her, she ran like lightning out the door, into the starry night sky.
