Chapter eight

Gemma

I opened the car door and got out.

"Hey Gem?" Luke called leaning across the seat, I bent down to look at him.

"Yeah?"

"We're good right? Your still my friend?" I smiled.

"Yeah Luke we're still friends." He grinned at me and I melted. No, bad Gemma no melting with a 'just friends' guy.

"See you tomorrow Angel."

"Bye." I breathed, closeing the door and walking toward the house. I felt like I was floating on clouds. I loved it when he called me Angel, I never used to like any pet names especially when I was with Daniel. But being with Luke was different. Not 'being' with, hanging out with I ammended. In a completley platonic and friend kind of way.

I sighed and opened the door and stood absoloutly frozen.

"Oh my god." I whispered. My mother pushed away from the person that she had been lip locking with and stared at me a look of horror and guilt on her face. She was horrified? What about me. How am I meant to react to this? Oh my god. Shit.

I breathed heavily and looked at the person next to mum. Maybe this would have been alot better if it wasn't a woman, that mum had been snogging.

Shit. A girl? A woman. Some lady in my house with my mum.

"Baby, I can explain." Mum said coming towards me. I backed up my hands in front of me.

"Mum just don't, I can't talk to you right now." I felt like being sick, my body was shaking and I felt tears on my face. Crap is this shock? Am I in shock?

I raced out of the house and sprinted towards Luke who had gotten out of the car and was now staring at me in confusion.

"Angel what's wrong?" Luke said grunting as I plowed into him and threw my arms around his neck.

"I-I n-need to L-lea-ave." I sobbed into his shirt.

"Okay calm down." He led me to his car and sat me down. He buckled me in and brushed the hair from my face. "It's alright, I'm just going to talk to your mum, so she doesn't worry. Okay Gem?" I nodded my head, staring out the window. Luke gave me a worried look then when't to talk to my mum.

Mum's gay? My mum's a lesbian?

"Oh god." I muttered placing my head on my hands. I took a deep breath and let it out in a shuddering gasp. "It's not so bad Gemma, it's okay, mum just lied to me for seventeen years, that's not so bad right?" Wow this explains so much.

The door opened and Luke slid into the drivers seat, he didn't say anything just put the car into first and drove off. I loved him for that, I didn't want to talk i just wanted to be away from that house. Luke reached across the gearbox and held onto my hand. I sighed and closed my eyes happy for the support.

"Angel? Gemma." I grumbled and opened my eyes to look at Luke, he smiled at me and brushed the hair from my face. "We're here." He motioned out the window and I gaped at the three story mansion that was his house.

"You live here?" I whispered.

"Ahh, yeah." He sighed uncomfortable.

"Cool." I replyed, after the inital shock the wonder just wore off. It was just a house, made of wood and glass. It didn't really matter, or change my opinion of Luke.

"Cool?" He laughed, "That's it, that's all your going to say? Incase you didn't figure it out, I'm rich. Filthy stinking rich." He stared at me and waited for my answer.
