Ch. 12
(In Seer's perspective)
As Seer continued to run along the streets, she bumped into someone. She backed up. Tilting her head back just enough to see the person's face, she saw who she bumped into. This man had orange, wild hair; it was extremely coarse and thick and reached the middle of his back. His face was pallid, haggard, gaunt, and nearly expressionless.
His appearance perturbed Seer slightly. She shuddered.
But he knelt down in front of her and said, "Don't worry, I won't harm you."
He brushed her cheek with the tips of his cold fingers. Seer shuddered again. She was too confused by his sudden appearance and the explosive panic of the town that she couldn't think straight, thus could not make the decision of whether to trust him or not. The man stood and gingerly put his hand on her back, guiding her to an alley. He stopped, poking his head into the alley a little. He waved a hand to signal for her to come. He then put his index finger to his lips and smiled. Seer came over to where he was and poked her head in the alley, too.
Kiwi and Jerome were there. Seer wanted very badly to run over and hug him, but Kiwi would probably hurt her and Jerome. Kiwi and Jerome were facing each other, Kiwi's hands grasping Jerome's collar. Then they kissed.
Seer's blood boiled with anger. She stepped aside so she didn't have to see this horrific sight.
The bony-faced man stepped aside, too. He lifted Seer up by her dress like Mick had done. As he opened his mouth, his teeth and jaw grew extremely large---five times their normal size. His face plunged towards Seer, and he bit her on the neck, next to where the healeding slash was.
Her face contorted into an expression of pure anguish. The shock from the pain of the bite even made it impossible for her to scream at the moment. She gasped for air, barely able to breathe.
The man slipped his teeth off of Seer's neck. As his teeth reverted back to their normal size, he licked the blood off of them and dropped Seer to the ground as if she were nothing more than a bag of dirt. He half smiled, saying, "Did you really think I wouldn't hurt you? " He walked away, leaving Seer to sit in the dirt and gravel, helpless and in pain.
"Seer?" she heard a voice say worriedly, then in a tone of panic, "Seer!"
Jerome ran to her side and scooped her up in his arms, cradling her like a baby.
