His POV

"Come on! You can't stay at home all day." Susie moaned.

"I'm not, look let me finish writing this then we'll do something."

"Hurry up, it's almost the end of summer."

"It's the 24th August." I sighed.

"I know, please do something fun with me!" Susie pulled at my arm.

I out down my pen and stood up. "Okay lets go."

Susie clapped her hands and dragged me down stairs and out to the back garden.

"WATER FIGHT!" Someone yelled.

I was instantly hit in the face with a jet of water.

Susie cheered.

I wiped the water out my eyes and grinned. "It's on!"

I grabbed a water gun and a couple of balloons.

It was the 24th of August, every year on this date, my family always had a massive water fight, we invited friends it was a great way to spend the summer.

I sat down in one of our water proof chairs to take a break.

Jerad sat beside me.

"You miss her don't you?"

"Always, I remember when she met you guys."

"Oh yeah, you mum had walked in on you two lying in the floor, and she freaked out."

"But mum understood, that was the day I told her I loved her."

Jerad patted my shoulder. "She will wake up, we've just got to pray and have hope."

"Thanks Jerad."

Jerad had met my mum last July, a couple of months after Susie's dad had walked out on us. He was a great guy and by September they were married. And now she was due a baby.

Jerad may not be my dad but he was the next best thing.

"You know, you'll be off to school agains soon. Why don't I take you for a end of summer trip? Anywhere! As long as it's not too expensive."

"That would be cool, can we go to New York?"

"I was hoping it was there because I already brought the tickets, and booked our hotel. NYC here we come!" Jerad cheered.

"Thanks Jer, I love you, you know that right?"

"I love you too son."
