Chapter Eight ~ Unedited

Nikki's POV

Stupid stupid stupid. Stupid Nikki. Im so stupid. Tears continued to roll down my check. I tried to stop them, but I couldn't.

Why would he want me. Im not even feminine. I'm a coward. Why would my mate want me?

His words stung me, badly. My heart ached a way i never knew was possible. His voice was so cold, he really didn't care.

I wiped my tears away and sniffled, theres no point in crying. I tried to convince myself but the tears continued.

Looking at the door i knew there was no point to run, the alpha warned me, guards will be there. I looked around for a window. Found it.

Facing the wall to the left, there was a small window, big enough for me to climb out. The sun was beginning to set, although it wasn't very visible, the forest trees covered it.

I slowly got out of bed, my bare feet touching the cold floor.

Stay, what's the point of running. You're being hunted. If you stay here, there wolves will protect you.

I  bit my lip, she had a point, as always. I sat at the edge of the bed and wiped my tears away.

"Might as well sleep" I whispered to no one specific.

We'll figure something out. Don't stress. For the first time in a long time, you're sleeping safe and warm. Enjoy it, you don't know how long this will last.

I smiled, she was correct. Laying down on my bed i tried not to wonder, i just wanted sleep. And that's what i got.

"Nikki" A voice whispered. Sweet and angelic.

I opened my eyes slowly, everything was a blur. But some eyes caught my attention.

"Nikki its me, Scarlett. We have breakfast at the house, would you like some?" She asked kindly, her eyes slightly glowing in the morning sun.

The alpha was lucky to have her. She was a beauty.

"Yes, please i would like some" I answered my heart pounding in my chest.

"Okay, do you wanna wash your face" She pointed to her face "You have... um saliva."

Blood rushed up to my cheeks, quickly i covered my mouth and diverted my eyes to the ground, "Where's the rest room?"

She laughed and pointed to the corner of the room.

I didn't even see that.

"I'll wait for you outside. Take you're time." She stated.

I nodded my head and watched her walk out. Shes so kind.

Scarlett walked near me, leading me to the kitchen.

"How did you escape" she asked after a long moment of silence.

Her question startled me, but i answered anyways, "My mother gave up her life to protect me." There's no point in lying to her.

Scarlett stopped walking causing me to bump into her, she turned to me and wrapped her arms around me. "You suffered alone all this time" Her voice held so much distress, as if in some way she understood my pain.

I felt so safe in her arms, so warm and protected.

She is the luna. This is her job. One of her abilities.

"Scarlet" someone yelled. I looked up only to see the alpha, his golden eyes gazing at me.

"Jay" scarlet mumbled as she slowly let go of me.

His eyes quickly locked with hers and they almost seemed to be shinning. Shinning with so much affection.

I quickly grew jealous of they're affection for each other, this was something i would never have. A sharp pain quickly started in my chest, almost making me want to scream out in pain, but I didn't.

"Lets go eat" Jay offered as he held out his hand to Scarlett.

She slowly reached out and grabbed it then turned to me.

A small smile replaced her frown, "Lets go Nikki."

For a second, i felt welcomed, but i knew that soon the questions were going to come. And the truth would soon be known.
