"You know you're just like Nate!" Mark told me, filling Bowser's food dish as I quickly gathered my things.

"I'm not. How am I?" I ask him.

"Well, you're a Hypocrite. But I'm saying you're just like Nate because he applied for a job at this place literally last year," Mark told me.

"Yes and?"

"And you got mad at him for applying for the job!" Mark added. "Now I'm getting mad at you for doing the same thing."

"Look! There's a reason I'm doing this." I tell Mark as he sets the bowl down for the minor Dog.

"And what is that reason?" Mark asked.

"Everybody who goes there don't know what it's like to work there. Nate knows, but I don't know what it was like. So I applied for the job to see what it's like, " I explained.

"And what if what happened to Nate happens to you?" He asked, filling the Dog's water dish.

"I don't think it's going to happen. I'm sure they've fixed the systems."

"They might not have!"

"They have!"

Mark looked at me and then sighed. "Just.. Be careful.

--

The silence in this building killed me. I wouldn't say I liked this building during the day, and I hated it more during the night.

I sat at the desk, patiently waiting for my shift to start, but I jumped in fear as the phone rang.

Catching my breath, I answer the phone.

"Hello?"

Hey, are you the new security Guard?" A male voice asked.

"Yes," I answer.

"You sound nervous, Kid! I know it can be a bit overwhelming, but I'm here to tell you there's nothing to worry about. So, how about we focus on getting you through your first week? Okay?" He asked.

"Yeah, sure!"

"Uh, let's see; first, there's an introductory greeting from the company that I'm supposed to read. Uh, it's a legal thing, you know. Um, Welcome to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. It is a magical place for kids and grown-ups, where fantasy and fun come to life. Fazbear Entertainment is not responsible for damage to property or person. Upon discovering damage or death has occurred, a missing person report will be filed within 90 days, or as soon property and premises have been thoroughly cleaned and bleached, and the carpets have been replaced."

90 days? Is that new? Nate was reported missing right after his final shift... They never waited three months. It must be new.

"Blah blah blah," he went on. "Now, that might sound bad, but there's nothing to worry about. But, uh, the animatronic characters here get a bit quirky at night, but do I blame them? No."

Wait... Quirky?

I try to think back to one year ago to find anything helpful.

"If I were forced to sing those stupid songs for twenty years and never got a bath? I'd probably be a bit irritable at night, too. So, remember, these characters hold a special place in children's hearts, and we need to show them a little respect, right? Okay."

"Alright."

"So, just be aware, the characters tend to wander a bit." He told me.

"Excuse me!?" I ask.

"Yeah. They're left in some free-roaming mode at night. Uh... There is something about their servos locking up if they get turned off too long. They used to be allowed to walk around during the day, too... But.. Uhm. Something happened."

Right. Something happened! Someone died!

"Uh, now concerning your safety, the only real risk to you as a night watchman here, if any, is that these characters probably won't recognize you as a person if they happen to see you after hours. They'll likely see you as a metal endoskeleton without its costume. Since that's against the rules here at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, they'll probably try to... Forcefully stuff you inside a Freddy Fazbear suit."

"Pardon!?" I ask, blinking.

Now, I'm starting to see why Nate was so spooked.

"Um, now, that wouldn't be so bad if the suits weren't filled with crossbeams, wires, and animatronic devices, especially around the facial area. So, you could imagine how having your head forcefully pressed inside one of those could cause a bit of discomfort... and death. Uh, the only parts of you that would likely see the light of day again would be your eyeballs and teeth when they pop out the front of the mask."

I didn't really want to know that!! "They don't tell you these things when you sign up, " he told me calmly. But hey, the first day should totally be a breeze, " he said.

"If you say so," I mumbled, feeling every bit of fear and anger my murdered friend might have thought at this job.

"I'll chat with you tomorrow."

"Yeah... Sure, alright!" I reply casually.

"Uh, check those cameras, and remember to close the doors only if absolutely necessary! We have to conserve power, " he told me.

"Yes, I understand!" I groan, showing I was already tired of this.

"Alright, good night."

Just as he hung up, I replied, "Good night," though I know he didn't hear it.

What am I doing here? Why am I here? This is fucking stupid!

I have no reason to be here! Yes. Yes, I do. I'm here for one reason. To prove that everyone who worked here had to fight for their lives.
